ate super blue bad for clutch seals
Ok, story is that I bled my brakes with the super blue probably 4 months ago, and sometime after that I noticed a "notchy" feeling with the clutch pedal. I didn't bleed the clutch then, and was pretty sure the problem was due to bad needle bearings on the clutch fork. Strangely, the notchy feeling only occurs when the car is fully warmed up.
Jump ahead to a few weeks ago, I picked up an Audi A4 as my new daily driver. Went on some of the audi forums to research bleeding the brakes and I find that people warn against using the super blue fluid because it causes the clutch to start squeaking. Apparently something in the blue dye causes the seals in the slave cylinder to go bad or something. So now I'm wondering if my "notchy" pedal in the 944 is actually due to the super blue fluid? Any thoughts?

Three Wheelin'
Hmmm,I just lost my clutch slave cylinder ( I hope) and my system is filled with the ATE blue. Had the clutch done about 2 years ago and all was well. Then I noticed a slight shudder in first gear parked the car outside under a cover for the winter, went to pull it in the garage and it won't go into gear with the motor running?

good to know.. just to be safe though, I'll probably use something else for the Audi.
I just bled the clutch on the 951 - might try replacing the slave cylinder if the notchy feeling doesn't go away. I figure it can't hurt to exhaust all other options before diving into a full clutch job..

Super Blue IS bad for later model Audi's. I put it in my S4 once and within a few weeks the pedal started squeaking. Flushed it out with Motul and no problems after that. There is something in the blue dye that affects the newer Audi's - the Type 200 gold fluid doesn't seem to cause any problems.
Older Audi's (and the Porsches that share some parts with them like the 944) have no problems with Super Blue.

I go back about 15 years running Super Blue in my 944's, no issues ever related to fluid choice.
