What's your suspension setup again? Wheels and tyres - sizes too?

And the calipers and brakes you have are not the problem. You need the assist.

Right, i got rid of the stock bias valve. I have the Wilwood m/c and this guy plumbed in for the rear brakes:

I just saw that the kit Renegade has is now $2100 which is really not that bad; try to find a cheap LS1 and its not that bad of a deal

I'm giving this some thought for the future, but my '83 944 is probably going to need some more parts then what you guys with 951's do

main issue appears to be the brakes

Psh....that's the "main" kit. The price will double by the time you get all the other little bits and pieces you need (headers are $800 alone).

There are other places that are half price if you check around

ah yes, I was already shown another website - 944V8s

still a good read

I wish someone would make a writeup on a basic V8 swap without all the possible extra work to the engine etc

good deal - definitely thinking of doing this in near future

You should check out the conversion manual. It's well worth the money:

hydroboost is the only choice!
I've been using the electric booster from abspowerbrake for 3 years and it's been rock solid.

What is the consensus on suspension for a street driven LS1?

I had never seen/heard of it before! How much did that run you?

Consensus for a street-driven LS-powered 944 = the same as any other street driven 944.

The ABS electric master cylinders work great! I have built two cars with them and the owners love how they work. The are little pricey but worth it. To do these conversions right upgraded brakes and suspension is a must even for a street driven car.

Hey...

Pretty funny. I was considering moving to that exact same setup but was concerned about the master cylinder bore sizes. I was actually on the phone with ABS today!

Are you using the same brake pedal hole? How hard is the pedal? How grabby is the initial brake bite?

I've got most of the Porsche electro hydraulic stuff but have been too busy to source the rest.

Porch- Like Tom said, it's pricey but worth it. I can't recall exactly because I bought a bunch of other stuff at the same time, but I think it was around $800. Well worth it for a no compromises swap, and you can save leg presses for the gym LOL!

So Mr. Eclou, how has the conversion (Ls6) been treating you? Any racing lately?

I have been buried with work. I dream of the smell of VP fuels, brake dust, and melting R-compounds...

My car is slumbering in the garage, under a car cover with the trickle charger hooked up. First track day of 2012 is mid April. Looking forward to it!
