Default Help! Car leaks gas after fill up. drip...drip...drip

My 1987 951 has a problem! I went to the gas station to fill it up today. Everytime I filled it up all the way, I would bring it home, let it sit in the garage, and in about an hour, the garage smelled like gasoline really bad. Today, I filled it up all the way and looked under the car when i got home and it was leaking. The was gas dripping from the gas tank location. It was a drip every 3 seconds. Has anybody had this problem and what could be the cause.
thanks, Dillon

check the fuel line from the fuel pump. Mine would drip like that, turns out it had rotted.

http://www.clarks-garage.com/shop-manual/fuel-10.htm

If it only does it with a full tank, the problem might be in the filler tube components.

Have you mounted anything in the hatch area lately? Screw or drill into the top of the tank??

951s also sometimes leak gas in the engine compartment, usually the fuel rail. Then they catch fire.

It doesn't sound like that's your problem, but look for it and smell for it.

I had the same issue. Turned out to be hairline cracks where the filler tube went into the tank. I purchased a rebuilt tank, but you can do the repairs yourself. Call Garrity at 801-699-6542 and ask him what the adhesive is that he uses.

could also be a bad fuel pump o ring (bad fuel pump for most, but I chose to change the o ring)

I had it start doing that right after filling up once ... couldn't figure out how it was related but that was the problem.
