Car Battery, do you buy the Porsche battery?
I have a question regarding the car battery. My car has a Exide Classic 72 mo battery and it's only 2 years old. When i charge it up it loses half it's charge just in a few hours 48% So it looks like i need a new battery. My question is, do you buy the Porsche battery $239.19 or buy a generic brand (Canadian tire, in Canada) for $110 for the same type of warrenty period. Our Canadian tire won't warrenty their batteries for any Porsches.. I'm leaning on just buying the generic motomaster battery. How many cranking amps should i be looking for? 800?

Have you had Crappy Tire test the battery for you? They should do it for free.
I had a ton of trouble finding a battery that would fit from Cdn tire with at 700 CCA. I ended up going to an ACDelco from a GM dealer and paid a lot less for a better battery.
Here is the ACDelco one that I have
BATTERY ASM *CCA 685)(TOP
Part Number: ACD41-60
Product Notes: [60 Series Battery];Top post-Battery CCA rating 685 ; 40R BCI ; 0600 CCA
Pack Qty: 1; Per Vehicle: 1; Years: 1986-1986

Sears DieHard have a battery that fits. Ive had one in my car since almost day one. As long as you have the OEM battery hold down, its fine. The hold down works with it. From memory it has 700 or 750CCA as well, and has started my car easily in -20C.

Ok some good advice. i might go with what is available in my area, ACdelco or the Sears battery.. thanks fbgh20/theedge
I don't think the car is draining the battery, since it's actually not hooked up to the car at all at the moment. Damn thing just won't hold it's charge as good as it used to.
I've never seen Interstate batteries up here..

I've had a Sears Diehard for over 5 years in my car and it still holds its charge quite well, it even got me home a a couple summers ago when my alternator took a poop. I bought the battery about 6 years ago to go in a Mercedes I had then after a year I swapped it into the Porsche...for whatever reason.

I do not know who is making the Porsche batteries here in the US, but we replaced battery after battery at the shop. Cars that were less than a year old needing new batteries, and batteries being replaced within 6 months of being bought from the dealer. It was not a rare occurrence.

My bosch has been holding up very well and i would recommend it, and ac delco batteries are top of the line as far as i'm concerned (had them in a few cars with no problems, and seen them last around 5 years in a few other cars).
