Default Damned intake gaskets!

I don't see how you can get these baked on things off without being fairly aggressive. I am using a scraper tool and have not left any gouges, but certainly some fine scratch marks. Anyone know of a good chemical to use to loosen them up?

Interesting that you're having problems. Mine all popped/fell off when I pulled the intake.

I would assume that any scratches or gouges left by the scraper would cause no issue as the gaskets are there to fill in any imperfections in the mating surfaces.

Some sealant must have been used, mine always come right off. Use some brake cleaner and a single edged razor blade.

+1 -- use a brand new single edge razor blade (not the one that you've been using to open UPS packages for the last two years...)

As long as youre not stabbing the **** out of it, I dont think fairly light scratches here would cause trouble. Once you torque the intake down, that gasket squishes all over the place.

That's what I am hoping. I went out and bought permatex gasket remover and am now spraying, waiting, and scraping. Repeat, Repeat, ect. Its a slow process. Here are some before/current pics

Take this time to delete the venturi and replace all of the hoses under the intake. You will be happy you did! You can do a search for info on the venturi delete.

A light coat of grease on the new intake gaskets and you won't have removal problems again.

Which device is the heater control valve? Also, would anti sieze work as the "grease" to prevent the sticky gaskets in the future?

Heater Control valve. http://www.944online.com/cgi-bin/ASI...ystem-944turbo

Grease works but I bet if you put it on without any sealer, it will come right off next time...they come off that easy.

Does the coolant need to be drained to replace the valve and heater hoses?
