US 944 Turbo's with no factory sunroof

Have you given any thought to removing the inner panel from the sunroof? It will give you about another 1/2" or so there. I have an extra sunroof for driving events with the panel removed and the underside painted matte black to match the interior. I am 6'1" tall and have plenty of helmet room with this set up, but I have Forza's and also have a 36" inseam.

No, I haven't. I drive the car on the street as well, so I didn't want to remove it. Although if it's easy to take off and on, I will for track days, as I could really use the head room.

I'll snap some comparison pics this weekend of the stock panel in and the modified on in, and upload them here (if that is OK, otherwise I can start a new thread if needed).

How many non-sunroof turbos
Sorry for the bump guys, however...I am very interested in how many non-sunroof US spec turbos were produced. Mine is an '87 w/ LSD, cloth/partial leather sport seats (odd I know), oil cooler and such. It would be nice to know...another water-cooler bragging topic..

From the research I've done, non-US spec cars with no sunroof are actually not rare at all. However, from the info I've gathered reading everywhere, I would bet that the number of US spec 951's is probably less than 100. Thoughts?

Not to bring up an old post but add me to the list of non-sunroof 951's. I just bought the car and it was owned by a friend of mine, and I have been planning on buying it since the day I saw it and always said the day he sold it was the day I bought it. I love the non-sunroof and knew it was a rare option and I just think its very unique and clean looking without it. The car is an 86', alpine white with black leather interior, trans cooler, and on the options listed in the trunk it says it had 16" wheels in grand prix white which I am assuming is fuchs with white centers, however the car has phone dials on it now.

Burning Brakes
I just bought Erik's old '86 951 and that is a no-sunroof US model. Also came ordered without the rear wiper, lowered, and no cruise control. Would have been cloth interior with driver's side sport seat (damnit!!!!!!!), but there are some momos in place of it.
Erik, the head is primo now, and I'm going to paint it red

Hey how about we post pics of our factory sunroof "delete" cars...I would start but she's getting painted now - I'll post when she gets out - but everyone else feel free! Lets see if we can't get all the non sunroofs to post pics here. Kind of a rival with the "most beautiful 951" thread
