[QUOTE= I've been told they're going on backorder with Porsche N.A., which means it might take months to get a replacement.[/QUOTE]
I will know in the morning if they are on back order. I'll pass it on if they are

Thanks MD. I checked the resistance with out the ignition on and got nothing. I then pulled the sensor and checked it's resistance and still got nothing. I then took a piece of wire and check the resistance on it and got something just to prove my meter was working.

I should see something on just the sensor right?

Thanks samluke. Can you take one of your spares and see if you are getting any resistance and how much just at the sensor? I'm trying to verify if I'm testing this correctly or not.

If you mean you got 0 or infinite ohms of resistence when you say you got nothing, then your sensor is bad

Ok, so I should see 280 to 330 k at the sensor?

Sorry I'm new to this stuff so here's another stupid question, can someone tell me what K and M stand for. I get 4.8M, but get OL when trying to use the K setting.

M means MEGA ohms. very high resistence. K means kilo ohms, so 4.8k means 4800ohms. and 4.8M =48000ohms.. you are getting OL on K because the resistence is higher then the range you have your meter on when in K. You have a bad sensor.

Thanks MD, I just asked a guy here at work and he explained that to me too.

You guys have no idea how happy this makes me. I've been tracking this problem for months. The fact that this sensor is brand new and I wasn't getting any codes is what took me this long to test it again.

A buddy has a spare sensor that I can use. So I'll get that this weekend and test it.

Thanks all.

When my knock sensor plug went bad (corrosion in the wire behind the plug) the car would run fine at 3/4 throttle and make full boost then at any higher throttle it was a sudden cut of power but still made full boost (aftermarket boost controller).

So make sure to examine the wires behind the knock sensor plug.

I replaced it with the LR injector and knock sensor harness.

Yep, that's the crazy part of all this. I had a cracked harness so I replaced it and the sensor earlier this year, so I never thought that the bad sensor could be the problem.

Your description of the power loss sounds just like my car. Car still makes full boost and has a great afr.

AHA!! I think you helped me find my problem I was having with my car. The previous year the car would pull hard all the way to redline, and this recent year it would accelerate as it normally would and when it got in the upper RPMs it would roll off like the wastegate opening but it still made the boost I set it at

I picked up a brand new sensor today and I got the same results from the multimeter that I got with the suspected bad sensor. What gives. Am I measuring something wrong, not using the multimeter right, or this not even the right tool to get a proper reading. How is everyone getting the 280k to 330k number?

Can someone measure their spare sensor and see what readings they get with the meter?

Pull the sensor off the car and connect the multimeter across the two posts.

If that comes up fine, you should check the resistance at the KLR terminals. It's all in the factory manuals under Chapter 28 I think. I'll post the procedure when I get home and have it in front of me.

I checked the manual and it doesn't say anything about checking it at the sensor side. Only at terminals 11 and 13. It says to make sure the sensor is torqued properly and the terminal is seated right.
