Ballast resistor install??
Finally got my injectors. Got ballast resistors from Newark.
Can't find good & reliable instructions for wiring in the resistors. Not sure of the pin positions or the color of the wires(gray and gray/black?). Can anyone give me detailed instructions how to go about splicing in these resistors?
Most appreciated!

I assume if you splice them into wires 14 and 15 they would reside in the passenger footwell? Is there a way to splice them in closer to the injectors or something so that tey could be mounted underneath the hood with a nice big heat sink?

As I've been doing my homework for this project, I came across an old post where someone mentions that Talons & Eclipses have a slick setup where the OEM ballast resistors are mounted to a large heat sink attached to the firewall in the engine compartment. I have not had a chance to head out to a junk yard to see if i can find one.

Hey Mwc,
The resistor in my case is only 1 ohm in value.
With such low resistance, the heat generated
is minimal as long as the wattage of the resistor
is high enough, heat should not be an issue at all.

Cool(literally)!
Thanks for all the good info.
Should I solder the resistors to the DME harness or use spade connectors like the Guru units?

Here are mine, they are sequentially setup and have pretty huge heat sinks on them and are on a ally plate. There are zero temp issues with these in the bay. I would have preferred these to be in the foot well, but it was not feasible.

I hate to be the naysayer on this thread but I don’t anyone to make a safety issue on their installation. Power resistors will get very hot if not properly heat slinked. One manufacturer of the 1 ohm 25 watt resistor clearly states that a single resistor has to be on a 5x7 heat sink. I have burned skin off my hand with a 25 watt resistor…very hot. If anyone wants me to, I can run power vs. temp measurements and post the results of how hot these resistors get without a proper heat sink.
If you want to place the resistors in the engine bay..no problem. There are charts that de-rate the resistor power vs. temperature. So instead of a 25 watt resistor, you use a 50 watt resistor. Again, I can do the tests to determine the proper value.

Brian, I am up for any info you can give. I am ready to install mine, they are rivited to a 3"x4" aluminum 1/8" plate, will this be ok ? If I mount in the footwell it should be away from any carpet ??
