A/C compressor mount bolt?
Hey Guys,
This may be the dumbest question I have asked on here..... But I lost the long bolt that holds the A/C compressor to the mount under the alternator....damn even heard it hit the road! . I checked eBay, pelican, and 944.com without any luck?
Does anyone know where I can track one down?
Thanks!
Fred

Check the threads in the bottom mount hole Ive seen allot of them pull out and make sure that you loosen and re tighten the rear one. IF you have an issue finding one pm me dp951

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the heads up! I am pretty sure mine had one bolt through the mount from front to rear..... I bet when I pull it, I will find stripped threads in the front hole! Considering the age and condition of my car.... I'm kinda amazed that I haven't found more "Bubba-ing" like this..... It is funny.... Last time I changed out the alternator..... I kinda thought the one bolt in the mount looked and felt kind odd....
Hey Pd951, thanks for the offer..... I found one on eBay for $25 shipped... Crossing my fingers that it is not stripped out as well!
I rolled the dice and will take my chances!
Thank You!

If I had issues I like to add a longer bolt and use a shallow nut and washer on the other side , thus it cant back out.
( or time to install an insert )
What usually strips, is the threads in the compressor ear , the bracket is not threaded . Dp951

You guys are the best! Thanks for the help.... Gonna tackle this tomorrow.... It is kinda a challenging place to work.... As usual.... I need to grow a new joint in the middle of my forearm! If the front mount is, as I suspect stripped, I'll try to get a nylock nut behind it....
Thanks much for the help, and advise!

The compressor pictured "looks like" an early style housing but the pulley on the early 944 uses a 5-rib multi-V belt...your compressor in that box has a single V-belt pulley.
The early 944 compressor is a Nippondenso 6E171 which was also used on Ford trucks in the 1980s - I suspect the V-belt pulley on your compressor is intended to fit one of those.
You should be able to sway pulleys and maybe clutch assemblies, luckily the tools to do so should be available for rent at your local Autozone/O'Reilly.
