Loose cable - where does it go? It appears to be coming from under the upper intake manifold. There is a sticker on it that has the initials MT on it? Any clue?

Could be the connection to one of knock sensors. There are two of them under the intake.

8-valve NA doesn't have knock sensor

in 19876-1988 they also made the 924S which had a weird extra "sensor" on the intake manifold with a 2 pin plug..i wonder if you got the wrong harness in your car
