Default I did it, almost....

Hello everyone, new member and first time Porsche owner.
I spent about 2 years reading Rennlist to get as much information as I could. During that time, I never saved the money needed for a fully documented well maintained 944. So.....
I found an 87 944S with head damage account timing belt failure. Interior was in incredible shap but had no seats, couple little rust spots and and came with various base parts. Paid $1000 Canadian, thought was I would at least learn and have some fun, I enjoy building cars as mental therapy from my day job.

Brought it home, pulled the engine and went about a search for a used 16v head. Along the way, I found a turbo engine with 55000 miles. Ended up buying the engine, inter cooler, DME, KLR, harness, exhaust, complete front end swap for $800 Canadian.

Asked the guy where the car went, to a metal recyclers day before and he gave me the phone number. Phoned the guy, for $200 I could take everything I wanted, so he flipped it on its roof I and stripped everything off the bottom of the car as well as instrument cluster. Sold my base and S engine parts as well as S suspension and transaxle to another enthusiast for $800.

After 6 months of working on it I now have a complete Turbo swap in my S and will be taking it for my first drive today. Just have to bleed the clutch and I'm finished, for now anyways.

A not so quick note to Rennlist and its members without which the knowledge I gained from this site (and incredible luck in finding what I needed for an incredible price) would this have been possible.
Plan is to drive it and see what else I need to do to it and then over the winter do the front end swap, get some matching sets and get it painted. Wifey says white, I'm thinking Matte black.

Thank you for making this possible. Any owners in Alberta or BC looking to go for a drive I'm in!!!

This is what I would never dare to do: put a used engine in without a complete rebuild. They are just too old...
