83 944 only runs in start position
I have a 83 944 than runs only in start position. when switch is moved to run the engine stalls. 30 psi fuel pressure, good spark, speed ,ref sensors, ign switch, temp sensor and fpr replaced. noid light on injector is very bright in start position but dim in run position. With ign on and all injectors unplugged it has battery voltage on hot side of injector and 10.5 volts on the neg or pulse side. Thanks for any help you can give.

yes, the car never looses spark, but from start to run position the noid light on the injector gets very dim. I can rev the engine to 2000 rpm or so, in start position, let the key go back to run and the engine will wind down till it stalls. When it stalls, the fuel pump stops, oil and alt light com on. The 10.5 volts on the neg or pulse side on injector harness has me puzzled. I don't think that is normal. I thank you for any suggestions. I have posted this problem on several porsche forums and have had no suggestions on what it may be. Thanks.

Is it possible to have someone hold the ignition switch in the start position, then when it starts pull the voltage to the starter ? Does it keep running ? I'm not positive, but I'm thinking the ignition switch is bad.
Anybody else chime in here........
Where are all the 944 techies that used to be here ? Not to mention everyone that just wanted to throw in their two cents. Rennlist has gotten pretty quiet lately.......what's up with that ?

I put a remote starter button on so i wouldn't ruin the starter. Ignition switch was the first thing i replaced. It runs perfect as long as you hold the key in start position, let it go to run and it stalls. It never looses spark, fuel pump runs until engine stalls. Injector noid light is very bright in start position but gets vert dim in run position. With key in run position and all injectors unplugged it has battery voltage 12.8 volts on the pos. side of injector wires but 10.5 volts on the neg. or ground pulse side. Thanks for your help. It must be an oddball problem because i can't find any help on any of the porsche forums. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like your ignition switch. I had the same issue with my 84. The switch had a small crack in it and the car would only start/run if I put pressure on the switch in a certain way.
