Edd China is leaving Wheeler Dealers - for all the right reasons.

Amen...the whole point of me watching his show was to find out how things worked...that was the best part..he takes something apart in front of you and explains it....I especially loved it when he worked on exotics...inbound disc brake systems and all kinds of cool stuff...he definitely made the right decision...what he does is why I watched...I could care less how much they got for the cars..
Blast it!! just when you get to really like something, it goes all wonky!!
Sometimes we dislike change... But let's make a decision at least after the "new boy" has had a chance to show just what's in store, otherwise, just another "car show" does not really interest me.

Jim - what happened to Roger on CCC? I enjoyed his presence immensely but since he is not on every episode, I did not know he was no longer on the show.

The "suits" have screwed this up, predictably. I wonder how ownership and/or contractual control has evolved - did Edd once have more control?
I had no cable until digital broadcasting ended our one station reception here in the boonies. Then I got basic cable. Then I got interested in cars and had to have the Velocity channel and was forced to get the full set of mind-numbing and mind-twisting channels. Time to cancel (right after the Tour de France). I'll have more time to work on more cars.
Jim is onto something. There is always the full Star Trek cycle again.

Edd China and Wheeler Dealers are the reason I own a 928. I really knew so little about the model, or how to work on a car, before I watch Edd take one apart. I'm a visual learner that soaked up everything he did, reducing my fear of taking on a project.
Edd, I wish you the best in the future. I will be watching your Youtube Channel.

What a shame. Yeah, folks complain that they skipped over stuff. After all, they did have to fit into an hour. Regardless, I always thought it entertaining and informative.

I agree. WD and CCC are the most honest of the car shows. Everything else is badly scripted and just filled with product placement. I cut the cable line at my house 3 years ago and don't miss it. There is much better car content on YouTube than TV these days and it's a not even close.
Good luck to Edd on his next endeavor.

I noticed on pre-Velocity episodes that Edd was listed as a producer. He had a lot of control. Edd is an interesting guy....he has a couple Guiness Book of World Records...records. Including "fastest bed" and "fastest office".
Here's his profile video from his site.

The wheeler dealers 928 episode saved me from throwing many cubic dollars at trying to go 80+ on the Chesapeake Bay. When I saw how little one had to spend to buy my dream car in the UK, I fired up by web browser and went to town.
I am also one of the people who would fast forward past Mike buying the car and go right to the initial confrontation with Edd and the subsequent repairs. I won't be watching it in the future once Edd is gone, but the concept had pretty much run its course anyway. Once you start rehabbing Chevy LUV trucks, how long before you do your first Camry?
Hoping that Edd gets a new show with lots of wrenching.

Well as the saying goes " Nothing good last's forever" with Edd that was certainly true.., however Ant Anstead is taking over from him and he is a very good mechanic, technician, designer etc etc, so till we see how he perform's in Edd's role, judgement will be reserved..,

A little info on his recent UK television series..,

QUOTE { Surely, Edd will be missed and filling his shoes will be a challenge. However, Anstead does seem like the right person for the job.

Saw the Youtube post yesterday when scanning through it. Product placement ruins all the car shows! I liked the no BS in WD, I'm sure Ed will get something good going again. The show was good up until they came to the US. After that it jumped the shark
