Default What is the best size rear wheel spacer on an S3?

Factory stock 85' 928S so it has the factory spacers in the rear. I assume they are 21mm. I want to get the rear wheels just a tad bit more outboard. They look too recessed IMO. At the same time, I don't want them sticking out too much. What is the best option, remove the factory spacer and replace with a larger one with studs built in?

I added 6mm spacers on my 993 and it made a lot of difference so I know it doesn't take much, would like some input from people who have done this and what size and type they used.

Get wider rims.

Measure the distance between the fender lip and the tire, that is the maximum you can go.
Determine just how tight you want things, add that amount to the existing spacer size.... this equals the size of your new spacer.

You will probably have to go with a bolt on or risk having too few threads to safely torque the wheel on.

Assuming your fenders are not rolled, be sure to account for that lip on the inside.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/H-R-Spring-5...NYEhIS&vxp=mtr Be sure to measure both sides (they do very a little) then add 4mm then to the side with the least clearance. Plenty of other sizes on eBay to choose from. T

I put a set of 15 mm on my '91 (stock wheels).

Fits very well.

You look like you are running stock rims for that year so 225 x 16. When I bought my car I had 43mm spacers on which filled in the wheel well nicely. I am fairly sure they were an option for that year.

If you like the Disk wheels, then be on the lookout for S4 Disks. The rears are 8" wide and will fill the well better. I also added about a 7mm spacer to get them almost flush with the fender.

Have thought about that too. Do you have any more photos taken from the rear?

43mm factory spacers as a Porsche option?

Hi 95carrera. Are you sure you have the factory spacers already? It doesn't look like it in my opinion but photos can be misleading.

I also have a 85 928S with the same manhole rims. I purchased 25mm spacers with the bolts already in place. An easy bolt on job.

I would not go a single mm wider as the rims now fill the arch perfectly.

I got some 30mm 911 spacers and had them machined for $20 to fit the 928. With the stock 16x7 ET65 rims it was a nice looking fit. With the 16x8 S4 rears it was right up against the guard lip but did not scrape.

I don't have many straight on shots from the rear. Here's some that may help.

It looks like you have no spacers.

i was beginning to doubt my own memory from last time I had wheel off. They are on there! Phone stuck through slot in wheel, looking down on factory spacer.
There is a spacer behind there.

I stand corrected, but baffled. I don't remember mine being as inboard looking as yours. I have the Panamera wheels now and I had to remove the spacer to avoid rubbing.

The 924 Turbo had manhole wheels that were 16x6, but the offsets were different.
