I did about a year ago. I posted a couple pics and stuff towards the end of this thread:
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...dio-gps-3.html

After having it a while, the one beef I have is playing music on the SD card. If you turn the car off halfway thru a song, when the car's restarted, it starts at the beginning of the song again. So if you're playing Inagaddadavida and doing a lot of shopping that day, you're going to get real tired of the drum solo. It would also be cool if it had a connection to plug the CDC-1 cable in and control it. With Bluetooth, USB ports, SD port, etc., the CD player's not needed--but it'd still be pretty cool.

I thought about it, but decided to use Google Maps for navigation instead. Bigger screen (iPhone) and I know the map is always up-to-date, with latest traffic info. The rest can be done with many other, less expensive head units.

This is exactly what I was wondering. Can it control the stock CD player or not??? In the end, it's tough product to make to have real period look and the right functionalities. Also cold use some DIN cable mounts, if the market is really classic cars.

I would still probably prefer it to a iPhone, I just don't like the constant connection to the internet on those. I use an iPad mini without sim card option with TomTom installed and a BadElf GPS chip in my cars. The BadElf product works quite well now. For the first year or so, it was kind of buggy.

One big advantage that true onboard GPS systems have is the link to the wheel speed, etc., so that when the GPS signal is lost it can interpolate. Does this unit have that?

It doesnt have that....but few people get lost in 50 yards.

When did reading a map get hard?

I put one in my 996 recently. I love it. Here is the thread.

https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...9&goto=newpost

Would love to put it in my 928 aside from the fact that the radio costs more than 1/3 of what I paid for the 928! Maybe someday once everything else is dialed in but it would look really nice if someone has a 928 that is otherwise sorted. The look is WAY better than anything aftermarket. The GPS is not real useful given the screen size but if you want classic Porsche looks with the modern convenience of bluetooth, it works really nicely.
