Default Horn Fuse Goes Bang after a 1/2 sec Honk

A few months ago I installed a Momo M38 steering wheel. The horn worked great after. About a month later I was making a turn and the horn started blaring and would not stop. After fiddling with the boot the horn stopped, but would still honk when turning.

Fast forward to today. I noticed the fuse blown since the rear wiper never parked itself. Inserting a fuse caused the horn to honk for half a second then pop the fuse. Only one tone worked.

I ripped my Momo wheel off to find the hot wire of the horn grounding out. Fixed the wire and connector. Inserted a fuse and honked the horn normally. Still one tone and still pops after half a second.

I can confirm the wheel was installed correctly and the steering hub copper strip contacts the new Momo hub. Why does it keep popping the fuse though if no opposing polarities are touching?

Relay? Actual horn tones failing? I bet the constant honking before cooked one of the tones and that is why only one tone works.

Want to know something funny and ironic? I just bought the passenger side splash guard that covers those horns. Someone is trying to tell me something I think.

Internal short inside one of the horns.

I ordered a Wolo Bad Boy Horn. I have one on my ML350 and it's flipping loud. I figured what the Hell since even when it worked, the horn on the 928 was still not loud enough.

Does the rear wiper work before you press the horn? I had the same thing happen and it turned out to be a short in the rear wiper motor. Easiest way to fix it was to put a standard relay in for the rear wiper. Located in the back by the hatch receiver. I found the problem and solution on here somewhere.

Rear wiper function is fine. Pop a fuse in and turn the rear wiper on, no problems. Press the horn and *POP* after the thing sounds like a road runner, which is clearly the low tone only working.

My car is horny again. One of the tones on the originals kicked the bucket.

New and improved, and can now perforate ear drums.
