Worn Bushings on Upper Control Arm?

One question I have is.. I had a washer on passenger side front upper nut but not on the drivers side. I believe I was the second to the factory to touch these.

Thanks for all this.
I have just purchased the bush kit from Roger, so I am 'looking forward' to doing this job in the next couple of months.
I will be sure to take plenty of photos when I do, but my car is RHD so that may make a difference regarding access.

Fred (and Dave & Jake):
I was mentally re-doing this work in sympathy, and remember that I have a set of extra-long combination wrenches, box on one end open on the other, that may have played a part the last time we did a clinic car suspension. One of the UCA bolts does the duty holding that angle bracket/support for the cross-member on each side. No option to move that out of the way though.
[scratches head where hair used to grow...] I think if removing the UCA bolts was a good experience, I'd work harder at remembering it.

Ewwwwww., even tighter then I remember.
Has any body done a surgical approach from the top?
I'm (close your ears Bob) de-smogged. There is definitely some space on the passenger's side, at least on the S3. Driver's side a little more problematic.

I gave up on the no press method, as I only got as far as replacing one bush on one arm.
Fitting the second bush without a press was not going to work.
Fortunately a 928 buddy came to the rescue and we used his press.
The shape of the arm meant we couldn't use the centre of the press, hence the bottle jack

This shows how badly worn the bushes were before disassembly
Also, clear evidence that someone has been here before, as the rubber faced washers have been mis-assembled

The ball joint on one only lasted another 18 months
That was probably in part because the 928 kept subbing for my broken Cerbera, and has therefore done several track days at the Ring in the last couple of years
So I've had to fit a rebuilt A Arm, and it is quite the work of art
It was from Partworks_de and looks very similar to the 928Motorsports version

Interesting- looks as though they have threaded the upper arm to fit the locking clamp- something Porsche should have done on the S4 arms. I disassembled the joint on mine after it failed and the cap is lightly pressed in- not too surprising as there is little to no reaction trying to push it out vertically given its function is to stabilise the wheel carrier, the upwards thrust being absorbed by the lower arm and coilover..Discussed doing something similar with a local machine shop.
