Front end protection

Front end protection
I have had the front "skid plates" Carl sells for years. Worth every single penny. I also added a lower cross brace to stiffen up the front. Well, low and behold it saves the oil pan and alternator/AC from all the horrible dips and bumps in Los Angeles. Today I took the plates off and re added some material. I do that about once a year.

Looks like you are running with 14 inch wheels!
Either your suspension is very low or your roads really do suck. The lower brace also looks very close to your sump-whereas I run with two shims to clear the alternator my sump is nowhere near that close or so I think. Motor mounts OK?
Would not be without my bash plates and lower frame brace. I have circumcised the bash plates a bit but the lower brace has never decked. As you say good insurance.

I have given thoughts to the under brace...but when I read it appears to be more for folks driving the cars competitively...I don't track mine but am always interested in opportunities to enhance structural rigidity..but would not have any need to dial in extra camber or things like that.
Curious what opinions are for just someone that does spirited driving on regular roadways...do folks see a benefit for a use case like that? Price and difficulty to install are definitely not barriers to entry here..just not sure if it makes sense...what do folks think?

With Koni shocks and Eibach springs my car sits an inch lower than stock. I'm on my 2nd set of protection plates from Carl.
Very cheap insurance.
Glad I've got'em!!

And I thought we had bad roads in Thailand!
One thing I like with my 928 is that it's actually have rather good clearance under it (my car is at factory hight). My wife's Honda Jazz (called Fit in US) have bigger problems with clearance here.

Another vote for Carl's plates. He recommended we add them during my Spyder build and I've probably hit them 5 or 6 times. To hear that thud and scraping sound and know everything is protected and OK is worth a lot of peace of mind. I also have the lower brace but never owned the car without it, so can't offer a before and after comparison.

I've worn through a pair of protection plates myself. Either have them welded back up like Ducman or just throw on a new set. Have you seen the price of a new "S" rubber spoiler these days? Not to mention alternators...
Those who track their 928 with our front lower frame brace installed report they are able to take some camber out of the front end. As the front frame tubes now twist less, they don't have to start with ridiculous camber numbers just to hold neg 2 deg camber in the corners. Just goes to show how much twist there actually is in those frame tubes.
Non-track drivers say it corners flatter and more predictably too.
Glad you guys like them also!
