NZ '79 Parts car, let the unwrapping begin...
Tanz and I are in Auckland for a week, Bruce Springsteen concert tonight, whoo hoo!!!
At the same time picked up my "parts car".
Same family for all but the last year of its life (Ireland), lots of original documentation, and a jump post cover!!!!!!
As I have posted before when I originally saw this, it has the original radio, intake tubes and 16" teledials to name a few.
Unfortunately badly rusted underbody, will have it thoroughly inspected when it gets home in the next few weeks or so, and make a decision on a resto, or a donor to the Red car, want her (red) back to as original as possible.
Will post more in-depth photos when I see it next at home?
Anyway she fired right up and I drove her onto the truck, albeit it with a loud clanging torque-tube area noise. Idled beautifully though (engine nice and quiet).
On the road to shipping yard Auckland NZ.
Awaiting unloading at the shipping yard.

Hey Steve
Are you sure it's rust? Not sure what can really rust on the underside other that the bolt on bits and or the battery box.
You live in the most beautiful country I have ever been in. What a great place to drive a 928. The quality of the roads are exceptional, only problem is there are so many things to look at other than driving.
I just rented a VW camper van on on my way down the west coast.
Cheers

One of my car restoration Guru friends, thinks I am way over reacting about the rust, he will get to see it in a few weeks for an opinion.

Yes I am sure it's rust, but I am assuming it got so bad due to its life on Ireland's Roads, I am sure they salt them in winter?
When the original owner passed away, his daughter who lives here in NZ had it shipped over, she then placed it in a garage where it remained for 10 ish years until early last year when they moved house and Tim (PO) bought it, he and his dad (who has a resto in progress) decided the rust was too bad to make it a viable proposition, hence the sale to me.
Anyway Van, so pleased you are enjoying your sojourn over here in my land, yes I love it too!!!!
Now remember if you get close to my home province, phone me and I will make sure we connect if my work commitments allow it, i will meet you in the 928 if able.
Take care and remember to drive on the LEFT
