Dave 928s, thank you for the CIS video. No, I have never seen that so starting to watch it now.

docmirror and dr bob, Oh wow, so i totally messed up on the pressure testing. I'm going to have to take it really slow going forward and do a lot more reading before I continue. I was rushing and anxious to get things working but it won't happen again. I won't be able to do anything else until next weekend anyway due to work, so that will at least give me sometime to try to understand and absorb all that everyone is suggesting.

dr bob, you mentioned the 928 WSM, is that the same as the manual that I'm ordering from Amazon, or is it something else, and how can I get a copy of it?

docmirror, I'm concerned about that o-ring not fitting correctly and the missing 3rd washer too, so I'm going to do that first before continuing with the pressure test next weekend.

Still a lot to read and learn here, but I appreciate so much for the knowledge transfer and all the great advice and information from everyone.

docmirror, if I fail in my attempt to fix this, even after all the info given, pizza and beer is the very least I can offer when you stop by .

Will update step-by-step too once I start testing again, hopefully next weekend.

Thanks a million everyone.

"WSM" is the WorkShop Manual. Factory service manual for the car. If you plan on doing much work at all, you need it. Really need it.

It's available as a free download. There's a link in the "New Visitor" sticky (you did read that, right?)

It's also available on a CD-ROM set from Roger. 5 CDs, full WSM, tech specs, updates, service bulletins, a host of valuable and interesting stuff (should "I read the WSM for entertainment" go in the "You Know You Are A 928 Addict If..." thread?).
It's called the "Moorehouse CD Set". Roger has it for $75. Well worth it.

Very interesting thread as I am pretty sure I'll see all these issues within short when I will finally put together that engine.

Which kit did you buy?

Wisconsin Joe, thank you much for the info. Will get my hands on one or the other.

Ad0911, not sure if you are asking me, and if you are asking about the FD kit or what.

Banquest--

The "Morehouse Set" is a CD collection of 928 documentation that includes the workshop manuals as PDF with a linked Table of Contents. I have an original hard copy set, but for most projects I print the PDF pages I need so I can make notes and color on them. Then I go back and add comments to the PDF files on the server in case I need them again, plus the comments and such are included in the car's logbook. The rest of the pubs include tech bulletins from the factory over the years, some pocket tech spec manual scans that include torque specs, other specs, and some assembly tips beyond what's in the main books. There are extended service manuals for specific systems like HVAC that give extra details not in the WSM, including better component details. IMO, it's well worth the cost for all that extra stuff. I keep it on a NAS server so I can pull up details on my PC or the tablet in the garage.

These are the kinds of projects that often deserve a group fly-by after a monthly breakfast. Crowdsourced CIS expertise.

Banquest,

I agree with Dr. Bob that a post monthly breakfast "Tech Session" sounds warranted for this project if you don't get it squared away prior. If you do get it rolling prior to the breakfast, then of course, we will expect you to be at the breakfast with the car.

Then again, Doc might be willing to share pizza at Banquest's place. He might NOT be willing to share the beer.

soontobered84, and all,

LOL, with all these great pointers, how can I fail, right? I read all the postings, but unfortunately work has been waayyy too hectic lately and I was not able to do anything with the car during the week days.

I emailed roger for the "Moorehouse CD Set" yesterday and awaiting his PayPal invoice so I can get it here asap. Will call him tomorrow afternoon if he's too busy to reply to emails .

Appreciate all the support thus far everyone.

I think banquest should go the the breakfast no matter what. He can make a judgement on the quality of characters he's inviting to his house.

Seriously, the DFW group is nothing but great when it comes to supporting other owners. Not everyone shows up in a 928, but all share the passion and enjoy the company. The cars are an excuse to visit a few times a month it seems. A while ago I was in town there and able to take a break from that. Mentioned to Roger that I was there. In a very short time there was a group breakfast, and the ability to put more faces to names and personalities I knew.

A quick update as I'm not yet able to do much with the car today. Roger got back to me and said he is currently out of stock on the Morehouse CD set, but will get them within 2 weeks. I wanted to wait on this before doing more, but I did do as docmirror suggested and got the correct O-ring for the relief valve from John at Delorean Auto Parts, which is 25 minutes driving distance from me. I also got a couple of shims that is about the same thickness as the one I have for the pressure relief valve but won't install it yet until I do the pressure test.

I replace the fuel filter today and I also I removed the fuel sending until and cleaned it, but that's as far as I got today. I'm slow , but running around today getting the O-ring, shims, and fuel filter took up the most part of the day.

Will update more. Thanks everyone for reading and assisting with this project.

Set the mixture screw way lean/CCW before going any further running the fuel pump manually.

docmirror,

Copy that. So that's the Air Fuel Mixture adjustment, what about the Idle Speed Screw? should I turn that CW all the way or does that matter?

Thanks.

I definitely agree with with getting a tech session going. I personally spent years mastering the art of CIS. It's not something you generally learn in a weekend.

Thanks.
idle screw physically lets more air into the system. It's sort of like a controlled vacuum leak.
