My 6-year-old with no effort could move the front shocks in and out after removed. I will try adjusting the rear. I will say the oil pan fins are ground down. I will need to adjust the front. I need to buy the spanner wrench.

I'll echo the others' opinions and say you found what appears to be a great car. I have a jaundiced eye when it comes to cars that haven't been maintained, but your negotiating skills have neutralized that. Well-bought at $3k. From your previous description of your other Porsche projects, you'll be right at home in your 928.

Update this thread as you dive in. Others will share suggestions as you go along. Plus all of us who have perfect cars like to live vicariously through others' projects. [crickets]

This can be a great save. Definitely worth it IMHO! Have at it, use the knowledge here, end up with a very fine ride. Happy New Year!

Soak the rear bolt (pivot pin) in WD 40. Then twist it out while applying pressure on the lose end. I fought DS without WD40 for hours. The PS side was much easier with the good soak of WD40. You can also search for other suggestions. I think we all have battled the pivot pin.

Great looking car and a great price!

You don't need to waste time checking endplay, pulling the pan, etc.

This one is toast.

Recruit some friends and pull the engine.

Thank you! I am a big fan of PB Blaster! I need to let it soak for a day or so. Twisting is a good idea. I will jamm nut one side after a good soak and impact it. It is stuck on the bushing metal inserts.

Thanks for the feedback. I would rather not get my hopes up. I am aleady talking with Kevin about buying his replacement engine. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the timming belt and water pump are cheaper than my 944 and of course no balance shaft., which I just did a few months back.

Nice looking and with all the promise of being a keeper. What ever you do take good care of the intake tubes. There are a number of bits on your car that are NLA or just really expensive if you can even find them.
Hang in there.

Sad about your engine. There is a guy on here with a car that suffered severe thrust bearing damage, including heat damage to the crankshaft. For economic reasons only, he chose to pry the crank backward, lock the pinch clamp well, put oil in and keep driving.

The engine is now in bad shape. If you can get much of the metal out, move the crank backward and lock it, you may be able to run it for a while. Search for the thread. Note, this is NOT an endorsement, but may get you going for a while until it can be done right.

If Greg tells you to get an engine, there is nothing else to know. Get an engine. The master has spoken and you should listen.

Me too!

You never know....the chucks of bearings might not have ruined the bores and the oil filter might not have bypassed.....
