Default Porsche 928 40th Anniversary Celebration July 13-15, 2017

Sponsored by: 928 Buckeye Landsharks
Mark your calendars and plan on attending the 35th annual Arthritis Foundation's Classic Auto Show & Cruise-In in Dublin (Columbus), Ohio this summer. The Porsche 928 is a featured marque in celebration of it's 40th Anniversary and we need every 928 and their owners to participate!

The Classic Auto Show and Cruise-In is the largest and most successful classic auto show and cruise-in held in Ohio. The event hosts over 1,200 automobiles from every make & model with six foot trophies awarded to the Top 100 entries during the Cruise-In (Friday) and “Best of Show” awards during the Main Event (Saturday).

The 928 Buckeye Landsharks are hosting the Porsche classes and will have our premier parking in the grass near the pond right off of the main entrance. All Porsche models are invited and since it's the 928's 40th Anniversary we are striving to show a 928 from every year, including special editions (ROW, Weissach Edition, CS/SE, GT, and GTS).

In order to accomplish this goal we need YOUR participation... and your SHARK! As a bonus, a part of the overall car show is the Porsche Only "show within a show" featuring both People’s Choice (voted on by participants) and Concours Preparation (judged by PCA national judges). Trophies are awarded to multiple models in both People's Choice and Concours classes, in addition to any trophies awarded by the Arthritis Foundation.
This event raises vitally needed funds for the Arthritis Foundation's research and support programs. Your attendance at the 35th Annual Classic Auto Show & Cruise-In will help us make a difference. Below is all the information you'll need to participate, including links to vehicle registration, hotel information, etc. Any questions should be brought to the attention of Mike Buccicone, President 928 Buckeye Landsharks - via PM here on RennList.

This looks like a lot of fun. Would we have to show on both Friday and Saturday? The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is the same week but I think the show portion for Porsche starts on Saturday. Ed could you confirm? I am driving in from Seattle for the PVGP and maybe able to participate in this as well if the days work out.

Hi Nate - you are correct. There is a PVGP overlap, but our show will be Saturday (the main day) and sunday, July 15 and 16. We will be featuring the earliest cars, in celebration of the 40th European COTY. I will get my thread up later tonight, since we are all starting to plan the 2017 events.

(I apologize for the hijack !)

You have a choice for Thursday driving tour. I'm not sure if that is set in stone but the tour will leave Dublin and go to a private museum in Washington Court House, Ohio. Friday is the Cruise in. Come park anywhere though our area around the pond is where we will gather. Judges (non Porsche) go around and 100 six foot trophies are awarded at the end of the day. Saturday is equally fun with Peoples Choice voting for Porsche & PCA Concours judging on preparation. Come one day or three.

Yes... you can register for one or both days... Friday and/or Saturday. Friday is more informal with the Cruise In, etc, lots of cars, food vendors, 6 foot trophies, etc... Both days are a lot of fun!

Damn Mike was typing FASTER than I was...

And... It's a drill weekend. Never mind...

Sounds interesting, although I believe that is my wife's family reunion weekend and I typically host the Saturday evening barbeque. Then again, might be a good way to get out of that

If I can get some issues sorted out (new air conditioning, stereo and misc. other stuff) I could be interested in convoying down with some other Michiganders. Only a 4+ hour drive and would be fun to take a weekend off for a change. I'm a little confused as to the costs though (other than hotel). Do you pay for registration and entry to park with just 928s or are you put in the middle of a field with everyone else stuck being parked next to a '47 Dodge sedan?

Good question: Short answer is NO. When you register it will have a wide variety of Classes to put an X next to, including the various Porsche classes, and Porsches have our own preferred parking, on the grass / next to the pond (we'll take good care of you). We definitely NEED support from the Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky 928ers... and anybody else that are able to attend! I understand Ed, Rick and the rest of the PA / MD crowd has their own gig to attend to... Unfortunate that these two shows popped up on the same dates

I was just speaking w/ Paul (ninespub) about this event and I believe it's the same event that came up at our Holiday Party dinner conversation with the P clubs District 9 rep(Michael S.).

I'll bring it up at our monthly GTG next Wednesday night and see how many we can get to join in

Dave:
I spoke to Michael S. Regional PCA Rep in September about the show at Porsches to Warsaw. He could very well be talking about the Arthritis Foundation (AF) show. I told him to spread the word about our 40th anniversary show July 2017. I know we got a lot of Michiganders up North that I met before in Sharks in Hell.

My drill schedule changed, and this is now back on the menu.

Sharks in Niagara is the following weekend. Sounds like a good reason to take a week off and do some fishing and kayaking while wandering from one to the other!
