Quick update....
Ok so I got the sender out finally. The bottom of the sender unit (plastic 'cup') got caught under the ring and pulled it loose from the baffle. So...question for the group now is what to do with the ring as it is now loose in the tank.
Thoughts?

Aha! Here is what I found today.
I have two young uns so I can get them working.
A few pics of what I found today. I think I found at least part of the issue for the clogged fuel pumps...hate to think what might be further down the line.
But - good news is the tank has been dropped and cleaned...and with a new strainer, filter, pump, etc. in the back we should be good to go on that end as far as fuel delivery.

Got 'Ol Copper started tonight!!!!!!! What an awesome sound to hear that big V8 come to life!!

Video (or it didn't happen, right?)
Here we go!
Good news to report:
Car moves forward and backward (so 1st gear and Reverse work).
Car stops (brakes work).
Most electrics are working.
No major leaks under engine from any system.
Things to add to TO DO list:
Windows not working.
A/C Not working.
Next Steps:
Today will let it run up to operating temp and if all goes well, will drive down the road in the neighborhood (it was too dark last night).
Take it to the car wash and clean the engine and underside to be able to identify leaks, etc.

Just a quick update -
Been driving the car on short trips to start evaluating things. Brakes have issues - I can stop, but not real good. I believe it is Master Cylinder related.
So to date, I have:
Changed coolant (old was not bad at all)
Changed PS fluid (old was not bad at all)
Dropped and cleaned gas tank (It does leak slightly...tried to patch and didn't take. Will try a plastic weld before throwing in the towel and getting a new (used) one.
Replace Fuel Pump, filter and strainer.
New vent line and fuel line to pump from tank
Pur sunroof together and closed it. Still needs work.
Reinstalled headliner
Clean and repair dash dimmer - I now have dash lights
Clean and reinstall CE panel
Clean all grounds
Clean and reinstall window motors - have 2 working windows now
Tomorrow's plan (off work):
Clean engine and undercarriage
Remove nasty old window tint
Remove carpets and pressure wash
Later this week when parts arrive:
Change tranny fluid
Change oil
New air filter
So far I have about $1900 invested (total) in a running and driving car. It has vacuum issues and prob needs injectors cleaned, but man is it an awesome driving car! I can't wait to see how much better it runs and drives when sorted.

Please don't pressure wash engine bay. Trust me on this point, it could possibly create a whole new batch of issues to chase down. 928 engine electrics, sensors, connectors and switches do not like to be pressure washed!
