The Rebirth of a GTS
Back in June of this year I dropped my GTS off to Greg Brown to get some long overdue maintenance performed. Lots of leaking seals and old fluids.
My GTS currently has 240,000 + original miles as a daily driver. I'd rate it an 8.5 exterior and 8.5 interior.
The first eye opener had GB telling me my trans was on its last legs - not news I wanted to hear! But I said OK, do what needs to be done.
Next email from GB is the main bearing has spun - motherf@cker!
The car had been driving fine without any weird noises so it came as a surprise.
The GB motto: "I don't make this stuff up, I only report what I see."
The choice at this point was to button it up, stop driving it and sell it ASAP at a significant reduction in price or rebuild the engine.
After contemplating my future car ownership options, I decided to bite the bullet as I still love the car.
We spent a bit more to do a stroker and GB custom exhaust then had a complete detail by Polished Detail (a Rennlist Sponsor) who did a full paint correction and ceramic sealer.
The car was completed the morning of Sharktoberfest.
The final result is below. It is a beast.
I welcome GB to opine on specifics.

Looks great! With GB mechanicals you're set for another 240K of fun. It's hard to contemplate selling, I went through a car every year before I got the 928 and I never get tired of it, or spending $$ on it!

All that work and just one pic? Come on, you are killing us. Lets see the custom exhaust!
Curious though, why do you have S4/GT tapered intakes? I thought GTS uses straight pipes to deal with the breathing needs, and given this motor is stoked to a larger capacity, I would think it would be required.

I'll let Greg answer those type questions - I'm sure he'll drop by today or tomorrow.

The standard S4 intake tubes allow plenty of unrestricted air flow and just look better.

You guys over there are so fortunate to be able to get GB to wave his magic wand over your cars. Where I live is paradise, but it's sure makes it difficult to own a 928, as there is absolutely no option but to do everything myself.
Sounds great Randy ... look forward to hearing and seeing more.

Looking forward to those pictures, I just sent a feeler email to the detail company to fix my 944's sad paint.
Their prices look good and if they are of comparable level of reputation/quality in detailing as GB is with the rest of the car...they'll do for me.
