A few of us sounded like this today on the way back from Sharktoberfest. Too many slow pokes on the freeway...

I remember Bill Ball commenting on the way across Texas a decade ago -- That the cars seem to find a sweet spot at about 120 where they are at ease. The car is well planted, not breathing hard at all, etc. This was of course in a caravan that included a couple supercharged cars, Sue and Joe in their GT, plus a couple of us weaker souls bringing up the rear. The cars were in their element. The local traffic poking along at a mere 75 or so were the hazards, though.

Buck-twenty still seems like the perfect road speed. A couple weekends ago I missed a local PCA drive, and decided to go on my own mini-tour instead. Running west and south towards the ski area at 55 +10, a BMW touring was pushing a little. A few minutes at sweet-spot speed solved the problem for both of us. I never saw him again. Din't want to be obstructing the flow of traffic, yer onnr.

It was spitting snow at the ski area in the parking lot, a sure sign of winter to come soon. I was carefully watching the mountain weather, and as we started to see snowflakes early last week at altitude, it pretty much killed the option of driving the 928 down for Sharktoberfest. First year in a long time that I had a Sharktoberfest-sized hole in my project schedule, but the weather up here was not favorable.
