DARN! The first pictures of your cam gears showed minimal coating wear, good for another timing belt interval, although recoating now would extend that. The last pictures shows significant wear, but probably caught in time for recoating. I have not recoated gears but other locals have. Others in your area may be able to advise on recoating. Or, I think Colin Jensen offers that service by mail.

I may try to find a local shop in Houston to do the recoating of my cam gears. There are tons of metal shops here due to the Oil & Gas Industry. I've looked around on rennlist and it looks like I will have them do the following...
- blast gears with soda or some not angular blast media to prevent gear damage
- coat the gears in a dry film lubricant (molydbenum disulfide?)
Is this correct?

Locked crank at 4|5, removed bolt after several trys and breaks and maybe a hernia, removed cover...
Noticed the oil pump gear may need some coating too.

Finally got the crank gear off. Then removed the rear belt cover. More deep cleaning. I initially planned to keep the air pump, but I am debating on removing it. Here is the latest pic.

Thanks Lon.
Yesterday, I cleaned more and removed the oil pump.
I also removed the air pump. It's amazing how much room is gained.
In the process of removing the air pump, the brittle plastic monster reared its head. Connector behind the passenger side timing cam broke. Need to figure out where that leads to.
Once I figured out how to remove the woodruff key on the oil pump, i took apart the oil pump. Need to get some stp oil treatment and start the rebuild process. I ordered a new oil gear from Roger, from what understand, the spacer/washer shown is no longer needed?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Michael,
Looks like it's going pretty well. If that air pump isn't making lots of noise now, it probably will be soon then you will regret keeping it. Everyone I have removed, I could turn by hand and feel the roughness in the bearings.

Ah, the hall sensor. Looks like another order from Roger.
Got the oil pump updated and installed. Cleaned up the rear timing belt cover and installed it. Reinstalled rear crank washer and crank gear.
