Default Remove passenger seat 1986 Porsche

1986 928 , i need to remove passenger side seat! The engine and battery are out of the car
and the manual adjustment is missing teeth, so no power and can't use the manual, how can I remove the seat? There is not a bar or anything as far as I can see.

Get a battery/12v source and two wires.

How many teeth is the manual gear missing?

It's supposed to be missing one.

Alternatively, you can unhook the drive cables. The side with the manual gear has a bolt holding it, the other side just has a spring clip. Once you get the cables out, you can turn them to move the seat back and forth. You have to keep them reasonably synched, otherwise the seat will end up diagonal in the track and bind up. You can use a pair of cordless drills to spin the cables, but be careful. They are simply spun steel wires and can be "unspun" if you crank too hard the wrong way.

Default Thanks

We used other car battery, wires and clips and jumped the motor on seat to get it move backwards enough to remove the back screws. One side of the gears is missing a small chunk, but was able to hold it together enough to get the seat in the very back postion. Now the seats are off to get new leather! Yay!Thank you all for the support.

The passenger seat in my '82 moves forward on its own. I'll be driving along and suddenly--it's alive!!! I hate it.
