Hello all,

are these two interchangeable ?
Will a 1987 front left wing (fender) fit on a 1979 928 4,5 ? I think they should be interchageable apart from the side indicator holes

Anyone tried this ?

no , they dont fit... you need the S4 front bumper for it to work.. the S4 fenders have a cut out for the bumper sides, where the pre 86 style has no such cut out....

correct you can cutoff 78-86 fenders and bend over a flange to work on an S-4 but as Kibort notes 87 > fenders are missing a big hunk of sheet metal in front of the wheel well. They also have an odd circular mounting point toward the rear of the fender which is covered by the stone guard. So there are differences.
