Default The last trip with the gang - pics.

Yesterday Sunday the local Porsche Club went for probably the last joint tour of the season. Some of the guys cannot drive on straight roads so the narrow curvy roads up to the Tjällmo Inn, a restaurant dating from the 1600s way out in the countryside, were like heaven for them but some of the ladies did not agree. The dinner was just delicious. The owner originates from California but the wife is Swedish. http://www.tjallmo.com/
Here are some pictures. We were three 928s amongst several mid engine cars and a couple of late model 911s.

Thanks for sharing! I can't wait to visit Sweden again!

Has to be in the summer, though... when Hell is campaigning.

Cool.

Driving season is quickly coming to an end here, too. Interesting to see the unique style homes you have there.

Thank you, for sharing.

Brian.

Nicole, next time you come to Sweden please notify me and we can meet. I am sure you love to meet my wife the only lady in the country having her own 928 Strosek Ultra.

Brian, in Michigan you must have met several Swedish descendants. If you wonder about the traditional red paint seen on very many Swedish wooden houses out in the countryside please read on here.

The weather is still nice over here so we probably will drive our cars until the last day of October. It all depends on the weather. When the car is taken out of traffic for the winter we do not need to pay any vehicle tax for the period. Many people also do change the insurance for the winter to a "garage-insurance" which is less costly.

We'll have to do that. I don't have any specific plans, yet, but it's possible for next year.

Yes Chris, it is a Volvo P1800 owned by a member in the local vintage car club.
The Volvo is restored to mint condition.

Ake,

Interesting about the paint and its history.

We have the remnants of several small Swedish communities here in Michigan, but the largest I've found is in Tustin, MI. Talked to a third/forth generation women the last time we were up there and she filled us in on the earlier migration to this country. She mentioned how you could automatically recoginize a Swedish farm by the white, rounded arches that they would paint on the top of each barn door. Very clean and mindful community, strong pride in their surrounding and contributions to the area. A pure asset to this country, for sure.

Yes, been holding off on the "storage" insurance call to my insurance guy...hoping to burn all of the gas out of old red and refill before putting her up for the long winter months. Old blacky gets enough tanks of fuel to keep it fresh, but she'll be topped off soon.

Brian.
