Was at Greg's and grabbed pics from a '79 that's there for some work:
4039, I think. Red ink. Musta splurged for a new red marker.

9289100333. ROW delivered in Germany. Manufacture date August 1978. No tape underneath the the glovebox, but on the underside of the roof lining is 4.8.78.A, written with black felt tip

Sure enough, a short piece of masking tape was stuck to the underside of the glove box, four red letters or numbers written on it, but I couldn't read them.

79 ROW - Grey market -believe to be a German Spec car, as everything is in German and Kilometers - Vin# 9289100748 - do not see any tape on or under the glove box. Engine M28/02 - #8195339

Prod number? 1590? it's the same writing as a few others already posted, so sorry, but here is a pic for you to decipher (it really is kinda cool though).
'79 Siver Euro prod number.
As with my other, I will apply for a COA at some stage.

Has anyone done this with '78 numbers?
Very cool thread! I love that this info is being collected and compared. It makes the cars more interesting, and (IMHO) more valuable to know their history.
