Default VanD Collection Video

On my way back from Adam's excellent Sharks in Ontario event, I stopped in Rochester to take some video of Alex's collection, for the documentary project. He sure knows a lot about the early cars, and has picked up some interesting examples. Here's the video:

If you missed the previous two "sub-videos" from the overall effort, here they are.

I had to go to bed before the Youtube upload was complete, and you got up before me, Tony.

I just posted the thread I wrote out last night. Let's put our comments there, please.

If you wait to the very end of these videos, you'll see that asking about the AMC Pacer yields surprising answers. Adam's aunt had one, and offered it to him. Alex's family owned one. I myself test drove a new one at a dealer back in 1975. And Tony Lapine is alleged to have been involved in the Pacer.

Could there be some cause and effect between early exposure to a Pacer and later ownership of a 928? The research shall continue.

great video, thanks for posting. Also, the front fender line was also inspired by the 68/69 Chevelle (and Benz). You can see it very clearly at the local car shows where there are plenty of the Chevelles - just pull in next to one and you'll see.

Alex - you rock - best collection since James M

Holy crap, that's a nice fleet!

(I just read that a "herd" of sharks can be called several things, but one of them was "shiver." A Shiver of Sharks! I like it...)

A bit OT for the thread, but Alex raised it so here you go - see if you see the inspiration. Look especially at the front fender lines and creases on each):

Thanks Jeff...that's about 1/2 of the cars...if I had a little more warning I would have tried harder to tidy up a bit and had the light green metallic car there as well. Can't wait to close on a commercial warehouse to get most of the non running part of the collection in one place and free up space in the garage proper, and possibly start restoring either the Orange or the Talbot Yellow car - using Rob and Williams 'Minerva' as the 'Stretch' Goal. I need to find a helper for a lot of the moderate to heavy workload due to the recent back issues I've been having, and I'm also looking to get the rest of the 'stuff' in my garage more organized as well - spent all last year getting the Garage spray foamed and shelving in place and 'mostly' organized. Still trying to get rid of 'stuff' that's been accumulating during the house/garage addition(we about doubled the size of the house and quadrupled the size of the garage). In-floor heat is now fired up and ready to go as well - ready for winter - so hopefully no 'shiver'....

I've been contemplating hosting a 928 gathering here, but what to call it? Bingo! "Adirondack Shiver". But no, not in February.

Awesome collection and great video, had a professional feel to it.

Thought this time would never come for the 928, the Porsche that just floored me when I first saw one in Hawaii. Looked like a UFO landed on the highway.

Thanks to you both for sharing.

Cheers,
Constantine
