I think this is the last re-design. The bearing housing has now been modified so it can be services from inside cabin, including installation of height adjustment shims.
There was a young machinist from boston that had already made a couple of these up and had one installed and working in his OB. Did you somehow manage to get his plans? He fell off the face of the earth right as we was gauging interest in a production run of them.
Regardless, I like the idea.
Jeremy, I just bought the car that has that shifter from the machinist. It's an 84 euro and it shifts GREAT. After selling my black 85 Euro, I never thought I'd get another one but this fell into my lap. It has been converted to Megasquirt and I don't know how to tune it but it runs OK.

I will need to get in touch with the other person involved with the auto shifter project. I sent all the assembly hardware to him, so dont have any of the custom springs to assemble... and yes, a custom spring is necessary to fit the shifter "shaft" properly and also provide the correct "weight".
This project isn't dead, its just been on a slow burner as I finish the supercharger kit. I went back and designed the lever so it no longer requires custom machined spacers, but uses stock spacers I can order in buck. You have the ability to change the shift throw in 2mm increments, which is roughly an 8% decrease in throw. The lever height can be adjusted to several stops for lower **** position.
This has been designed to remove the factory springs and bushings. Instead, Igus Z series polymer bearings will be used. These are the best in the business, and rated for heat, chemical resistance, and they have an elastomeric nature to help decouple the shifter from the linkage (less buzz).
The shift lever will fit the stock arms, and will also fit the new shifter system when it is completed.
I would have to make a run of 10 levers to get them out there, so if you are interested in the ultimate 928 shift lever, please shoot me a note. There are lots of existing good and cost effective options out there (I have a Perfex lever on my car now), but this unit is infinitely adjustable and will have a higher price to match.

I do want to get that full shifter on your Zombie build. I am going to make it either way for myself, but would be good to spread the programming/fixturing costs out against several sets. The prototype feels like an absolute gate shifter. I should send you the 3D printed model for some feedback.
Conservative ballpark for the shifter lever itself with the bushings and hardware would be around $175. It may be a few dollars less depending on how much the anodizing costs.
