Ha! The question was reasonable not gauche. I was tongue in cheek because of the seller. Seems like they put the cart before the horse by creating interest before they had a value point.

By the time"concourse" mentioned I'm out of the game financially anyway

Edit: quoted wrong post. Deleted.

So, around $5,000 worth of catchup maintenance?
For any newbs that happen to sail through I would translate that as yeah maybe $5-6K parts doing work yourself if you are likely, probably $10-12K if you are paying a pro/proish tech to do the work (if you're lucky). And add a correction factor if you want to use all Porsche/Bosch vs some aftermarket parts.
To then have a very originalish, extremely nice car.
That Sean called plane-jane.

So, non-s4 guy, what is the metal tube over the pass cam cover?

Edit: "YMMV"

Not what I was asking about. Read the post I quoted. Still no info on what I'm looking for.

I would pull the passanger timing belt cover off, turn the engine over by hand and have a close look at the belt. If it look good, fire it up to make sure it runs well and then put it on BaT.

Paul who is selling the car on behalf of the Estate has no idea of the value. Before he starts talking $ he needed to find out as much about the car as possible - hence the PPI by Sean.
He has been bombarded with emails about the car so I am not surprised he has not responded as yet. He also has to reach out the the current owner to discuss the selling price as he is acting on there behalf.
We/everyone wants to know a price - but they have to make up there minds about how much they want before telling everyone.
I offered $3.5k 8>).

I'm rushing right over with post-dated, three-party, out of state, temporary check written in crayon.

I'll take it down to Dal and have it wrapped in purple and gold later this week. Then, over to the lighting guy for some of those under car lights, and finally a kicker hydraulic system that can lift the car at least 5' up.
