^^^ I haven't been able to find new. That's why GB recommended converting to AN.

Maybe 928 Intl can cut you off a fitting.

I can make you a custom line however much longer you want it to be, with an AN fitting on it, instead of using that 16 x 1.5 custom adaptor. Use the new line to figure out how much longer you want it to be and then you can send it back, to me.

Muggyweld.com will get you the best silver solder I've ever used....

I haven't bought and tried Stan's induction heater tool (it took me a couple of hours to figure out what this thing's primary purpose was, not ever having to deal with cars from the East Coast)....but I'm going to.

Thanks to everyone for their help. Brian's pics helped a ton since I don't have a lift at home. I never realized that the clips on the 79 were different than the later cars. So much easier to work with the nylon as opposed to the later metal ones.

Greg, thanks again for the offer on the lines.

I decided to pull the line out of my parts 1981 and luckily, it used the same male 17mm fittings. The line itself it completely different at the back side, although in a pinch, I am sure I could have cut it and reworked the line. Instead, since it had a crush in it, I decided to just steal the fittings. I straightened the 79 line to allow the fitting to go far back enough to reflare. I then installed a new din/iso flare. I will then re bend the line to mimic the original bend. I lost 1/4 inch total of length, but I don't believe that will cause an issue.

I also believe I located NEW fittings and I have a sample being mailed to me. Now off to rebend and recoat the line.

Comparison of 79 line to 81 fuel line

Rear end comparison

New flare end installed

Default It will be painful :)

This was not a fun or satisfying job - it sucks. But many have done it ,including myself about a month ago. Worked on it for 2 days - order some of the tools suggested and eventually got it [with an extreme amount of force]. Still like to smack me some German Ape - the radiator connections were not much better - uggg. Good Luck my friend -

True enough. I am on the other side of it now. This was the only joint that gave me trouble. Other lines were tight but manageable.

So for the sake of those who find this thread in the future, the fittings are available but not easy to find. I received this in the mail today. Company is called FED Hill and they specialize in lines and fittings. They also have the proper 10mm line. Note that they list the fitting as 16mm but it is actually 17mm and an exact match.
