Default 928 hood louvres?

I remember years ago seeing a 928, seemed like an early model, which had hood louvres. Am I crazy? Which 928 models had hood louvres? I have not seen anything like that since.

OK uh, how do you cut and form strips of louvres into one of our aluminum hoods? Is this something that custom shops can normally do?

most i have seen are rivet on ducts. but I'm sure a custom metals shop could do some.

Matt (RL handle: "The Fixer") built a really cool, lightweight 928 RS project a few years back with hood louvres, etc.and done right. Talented guy that did all the work himself. From concept to reality-much more here: https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...pt-sketch.html T

Yes I saw that thread; that is a cool look. But the one I saw years ago had a *looong* strip louvres down each side of the hood, like at least 36 inches of louvres. And my recollection was that they appeared to have been stamped directly into the hood itself, so there were no add-on parts.

Why would you want to destroy a perfectly good aluminum hood with something your car doesn't have any functional need for?

Better than the "ram air" naca ducts I've seen put into the hood (invariably in a low pressure area which will do nothing but let air escape).

Maybe this? Was a _really_ early model, but it had front fender louvers:

That image is from the 928 Project book and is the prototype that they used in the artic circle for testing cold weather performance. Don't recall them mentioning those ducts in the book though.

It actually looked pretty cool when I saw it, I assumed the car was made that way. But yeah it is kind of crazy to kill the bodywork for some cosmetic holes, and that look is *so* "eighties" now anyway. Who remembers those awful rear window louvre add-ons that looked like Venetian blinds on the outside? They seemed to adorn every cheap 2+2 hatchback car in the eighties. I just thought I'd ask to see if anyone had seen such a thing, or if I just had a bad dream.
