From the look of your GT6, you seem to have some skill so probably starting ahead of a lot of 928 owners.

What does your door tag say? Mine is "Zinnmettalic" which translates to pewter metallic..code 956.

Car is in transit. Hope to have by the end of next week. I'll take a look at the paint code, but the window sticker says pewter metallic.
Bugeyes are super cool! Wouldn't mind tinkering on one of those someday. I'm liking the Saab. Quirky and cool. Had it for a year. It replaced the wife's '94 accord which was stolen and recovered three too many times. I installed a stage 1 ECU upgrade from Brew City Boost. I am definitely not a tuner guy, but for $175 it may have been the best money I ever spent on a car. Way more fun and better gas mileage when not having way more fun!
Yeah....its Zinc Metallic......or Zinmetallic for the purests.
I'm sure the pewter metallic is similar as I've read they have the same paint code 956. But I came across a pewter metallic about 4 mths ago and the difference is noticable. Not sure if its the year that separates the paint colours. Something to watch out for if you go painting single panels. I've just finished painting my front end, and the paint I got (which was sold to me as porsche paint code 956) is a reasonable match to the current colour.
Once I get it back together I'll take a couple of picks and you'll be able to see the difference from front fender to door.

I wish I could say my first car was a Bugeye as many can, but my first car was a Studebaker Lark. Oh, no - I just had a pang of nostalgia....
Well it, the 928, arrives today (hopefully). Had to make room on the left side of my 2 car garage to store both the GT6 (in pieces) and the 928 (inop). I did some rearranging this weekend and it looks like the 928 will fit. The two pieces of blue painters tape represent the width (74"... can anybody verify this dim?) of the 928. I will have to go through the right side of the garage first then slide the 928 laterally into its spot. Can anybody recommend a good set of wheel dollys? I was thinking of getting a set of Merrick's Auto Dollys.
Get rid of the pool table (face it...two projects...your pool playing days are over) and move project #1 to that side of garage.
Then move the vintage stove and fridge out (even though it looks as if you use the stove-plugged in, however, for how often you probably use them...not worth the loss in space). This will make room for movement around project #2. Especially, if you move the air compressor to where the fridge was.
And my gosh...buy a new broom at your local farm store.

You noticed the broom...Haha you crack me up dude! I bought a new one but the wife commandeered it for the house. The "pool table" is actually a poker table and is being sold. I was using it as an island workbench anyway. The vintage stove is my powder coating oven. Use it all the time. Works great and 50's era stoves are wider than today's models so it's perfect for longer items. The garage is detached from the house so the fridge is a non-negotiable convenience for refreshments. Just wish the garage was plumbed. I'd have a urinal installed.
The plan for working on Porsche is to have it on wheel dollys. That way I can move the DD out to the street and push the 928 to the right bay and work it there. The GT6 frame is on a tranny jack so I can roll that away from the wall easily and work it at the same time if I get the hankering.
I hope the transport company didn't use the rear suspension arms to tie the rear end down and end up bending stuff. Would advise you check out how they've done this.
It arrived! Last night was the first time I ever sat in a Porsche let alone a 928. The seats are in really good condition. The thing that struck me was how great that steering wheel feels. Can't wait to actually drive this car.
Didn't have a lot of time last night to inspect but the early observation makes me happy. There is a shallow dent below the fuel filler door which should push out ok. One small dent on the right fender, two small dings on the hood, and a couple of small nicks on the fenders down to the metal. Left side of hatch not flush with quarter panel. Other than that the body is really straight. Interior smells a little musty. Pod has a crack on top of it. Leather on dash has dried up and puller out of the dash vents. Similar effect on the leather in the hatch area. The door leather and seat leather are in excellent condition.
No owners manual. No service records. Does have the service manual booklet but only two stamps. The initial dealer stamp at 26 miles in Dec of '84 and a stamp at 20,000 mile in '88.
The car has been owned by the same guy and his wife since Sep '86. So it's likely I am the third owner. It was purchased from Harper's Porsche in Knoxville. They are still in business. Gonna give them a call and see if the have any service records for the car. Fingers crossed.
So mileage is unknown on this one. The speedometer was replaced with a metric unit at some point and only reads 2095 KM. No maintenance records other than two oil change stickers. One on the drivers side door which notes 45K miles in '94 and one on the windshield which reads 63K in '03. I have registration papers for almost every year that stop in 2009. Don't believe it was driven after 2010. So my guess is this car has between 65-70K miles on it.
Engine is filthy. Lots of oil stains on the intake manifold. Blown head gasket perhaps? Found a rodent nest in the air filter. Not ideal. Hood struts shot. No jump post cover but the cap is still there..so its not a total POS.

Good point. Didn't look close enough. Check out the picture in my previous post. Looks like maybe they did. This was the local flatbed that was bout 10 miles from my place. I never saw it on the car carrier.
Don't worry about the condition of the engine, cosmetically......they clean up nicely and I learn not to judge too much from the engine cleanliness on these cars. Keep in mind that it is 30 years old with long periods of sitting.

Yeah. Will do when I get back from work. And the little critters definitely didn't get into the interior.
Where those tie down chains are attached, on that flatbed, is exactly what I was concerned about. Just another item you will need to check out. I sure hope they didn't bend anything.
