Default Anyone Know This 928 Motor & Exhaust Setup? Headers + ?

Listening to YouTube exhaust sounds... came across this clip of a late model 928 with GTS mirrors. Headers are indicated, but nothing else.

Posted 10/2015 by YouTube user "Because RaceKarl".

Searched and found no references on Rennlist.

Anyone know the motor and exhaust setup? Me likey

I haven't seen a 928 doin' the donk before. I wonder if they drive fast enough to get the tires to rub.

I like that sound too. After watching that video the next one up was a 928S race prepped for an Italian hill climb. Has a very good exhaust note. The last 15 second has a shot of the car rolling past. Nice sound.

Yah, except my YouTube got kidnapped by my Android when it entered the Google Zone and I am still (10 years later!) refusing to pay their ransom of my privy information! However, we digress....

Any guesses on that exhaust, Mongo? You know I dug the Flowmaster 10's you had on yours!

Carlos, do you remember ever hearing my '89 GT exhaust? I got more compliments regarding the sound than any other aspect of the car. Both by lay persons as well as Porsche fanatics. I rarely used the stereo or a/c. It was pure mechanical music. LOL.

The exhaust consisted of:
MSDS headers w 3" collectors, Dr. Gas 3" X-pipe, 3" to 2.5" reducers, Spintech mufflers in the stock location, then back to a 928 Specialists RMB. Fairly inexpensive all things considered. HTH.

I loved that system too but I kept burning my arm when adding ATF and got fed up with it. I decided to sport a single 3" pipe system after the cats. I now can add ATF to my heart's content and also realized I shaved some serious weight off the car. The new single pipe set up is probably only 25-30 lbs.

Your old 89 has a phenomenal exhaust set up, unchanged with the new owner. I keep trying to get him to sell it to me.

Thank you, Dan. Another sweet sound reference!

Hey Chris, I remember being across the parking lot and around the corner of the Banner Elk at one of the SITM when I heard your beast fire up - I wandered over to see who had that exhaust note! You already had a crowd around your car Thank you for the specs! Another x-pipe combined with chambered mufflers, like with Andy's (Mongo's) YouTube'd set up. That seems to be a combo that works on our cars, whereas a while back I had read some very useful exhaust threads on some Mustang forums where that combination did not work for them - I would need to find which generation Mustangs, however, since their configurations changed over some generations on where you could place exhaust components.

Yeah, I am struggling with the many trade-offs, but leaning towards my preferred sound being a priority - though I plan to experiment some, too
