Default Transmission vac modulator leak? (1987 auto)

During my intake refresh I found that the vac line from the 5way splitter was leaking air. Today I crawled under the car and tested the line from the other side...no leaks. I tested the vac modulator and it will not hold a vacuum. I assume it needs to be replaced and then the new one will need to be adjusted.
Any tips?
Thanks
John

How's the rubber cap condition on the modulator?

If it's bad, it might be loosing vacuum from there.

It can be the modulator itself too.

The same situation happened to me and it was the cap.

Mine was full of small cracks too.

Remove it and put some electric tape on it and try again.
If it holds vacuum, you'll know the cap is bad.

You can buy the cap separately.
I bought mine from the dealer few years ago.
If I remember well it is MB part.

Edit: Part # for my '91 is 126.277.008.1

Thanks Bertrand. You were exactly correct! The cap is leaking. Finally a repair on this car that is easier that I had hoped!
Does anyone have a MB part number for the cap?
