The wiring is actually early to mid 1970s .... with a few revisions here and there. Mostly just adding more complexity. Like memory seats, abs, electronic fuel injection , automatic climate control.

Considering it looks just like my car, I'll bet $100 your color is Venetian Blue, or "Venezia Blau".

I've also seen Baltic Blue (almost bought one) and, not at all like yours.

Have fun! Great hobby cars, the fun almost makes up for the frustrations.

I'm just happy that it's all relays. Easy. Ish.

Now to find out what that tube in the engine bay goes to...

Possibly vent for the charcoal canister system. Take a few shots from above so we can see where it terminates to.

Any pics from the bottom so you can see where that hose runs to?

Is that not the air control valve, connected to the air pump forwards, to the airbox aft (disconnected), and to the cats below via metal tubes? Missing its vacuum line at the top? Overall, suggesting the system has been made inoperative?

The wiper drive plate is spring-loaded, and should move up and down smoothly. Lubricate the shaft bearing, get it moving...

As said, the large disconnected hose goes on a spigot on the bottom of the air cleaner housing. This is where the pumped air is dumped on over-run - if the empty vacuum port shown is connected correctly, and the air pump works.

Spring-loaded? That's a big deal. It was definitely rusted through and we had an issue just getting it to spin. Will work on that. Thanks!

EDIT: The moneypit continues. Had to buy new lock cylinders and a spare key coming from Stuttgart. Sigh.

So we took off the beaten, worn down dashmat and uncovered a dashboard that has definitely seen better days.

We're opting for a dark blue suede dashmat for now until we have enough time and more funding for the dashboard removal. The seats are our priority.

Meanwhile, parts are slowly trickling in at the Porsche Calgary service department and still waiting for the lock cylinders and the spare key.

You may want to quickly discover some of our US parts sponsors to save some $$ over the dealership costs.

There are threads on lock cylinders and keys, and how to swap pins in the locks to make them all the same .and. fit your key. Ditto the ignition lock cylinder.

Oh will do, because it's a start of something fresh.

The 928 got a new Interstate battery and all was running to a tee.

But maybe rage2 was onto something. He's quite a familiar name in the 944 side of things, and when he saw me get a 928 it brought up nostalgia. Not sure if it was good, but this might be funny for some people

Yesterday was DRIVEN, which was a local car show season opener in Calgary. My daily driver is a 2013 Volkswagen Golf R, which was in the show all day.

Took the 928 for a stroll instead.

Everything was fine; car ran well, nice Calgary summer day, had a refreshing cruise with the windows down. Backstreet Boys or N'Sync; only two bands that was playing in the car because that's the only CD's I had.

Side-note: Quench my thrist with some Pellegrino and since there was no cup holders in the car, chugging carbonated water before a drive hurt.

Drove it around Calgary and parked it underground to enjoy the show. I saw rage2 as well around campus and honked at him as I passed him in the opposite direction, which might have been an omen.

It was 6:30PM and I was going to drive the car back home and get a ride to pick the Golf up for roll-out, then it wouldn't start.

Wasn't the battery; it was new and fully charged.

Wasn't the immobilizer; we bypassed it.

Fan also stopped working, but everything else was.

Could be the starter, but had to call for a tow truck and wait. Then get my Golf out of the venue and deal with this within a tight schedule.
