Current Best Buy - Kiln Red Car
Was looking at ebay today, and there is a beautiful kiln red '84 5 speed for sale. Low miles and in apparent great shape. Just got off the phone with the current owner. He came across as an honest guy. I told him that I am looking only for deals, so this one is not for me. His BIN is just under $15K, which in fact may still be a deal. After talking with him, I said he might be underpriced. If you are looking for a sweet car, this may be the one. He has records, and so forth. It's a family car from new. Has the odd small drip oil leak in front, but it does not burn oil he said (mine has a slight drip too, most do). Everything else is good. Seller has had several calls today on it.
Obvious disclaimers - get a ppi, and I have no interest other than to share this. The color is beautiful - just like Matt's car (from Rochester, I forget his rennlist handle). This and George's gorgeous coral red are two of the most beautiful colors there are.

25k BIN now.

I'm seeing BIN just under 25K.
Seems like a pretty straight forward explanation about the car, but I did find it funny...when he says it needs nothing...but then goes on to list several things that don't work.
Love that color though.
Brian.

Jesus Ed - what were you thinking? That was a great deal at 15k. That color rocks! Next time call me if you pass on a funky color car BEFORE you get the guy to raise the price...

Likely needs the usual 5-10k in maintenance and sorting/obtaining little pieces/parts but a great start on a very rare color car. Matt's (Hagen54 is his handle I think?) paint is stunning. 25k is a bit of a hike though.

Well, it is the battery box, but it is showing rust. Why is the end plate on the differential so nice and shiny and the rest of the undercarriage looks appropriate for year?
No interior on this car. No engine pictures.
[edit] I see the pics. It still looks funky underneath.

Ha I told him $15 to $17K all day. Maybe he is now testing the waters. He said he had several calls today for it. I hope he gets it. I agree, his BIN is now too high. It needs to be under $20K to move. He is in GT range at $25K.

All I have to say is if a car doesn't need paint it's worth 8k more right there, AND one less giant hassle getting it prepped, scheduled, etc. Factory paint, especially the metallics seem to be few and far between in my experience. Really need one that's been garaged both at home AND work, it seems.
More pics of that '83 Euro, please, Jim
