Opinion - Schumacher battery charger/maintainer
Based on your experience/knowledge, should I use a Schumacher SC-1200-CA battery charger/maintainer on my 928? I'm worrying most about whether it will work ok as maintainer in periods of low driving use.
Consider me totally ignorant on this subject --because I am.
Thanks!

You are good with that Brad, that's the one I recommend to everyone.
Give me a couple weeks and i'll see about that gas tank smell issue.

Thanks, Sean! And, though I probably need to get a full tank to be sure, that filler o-ring gasket seems to have totally eliminated the gas smell in the garage. Happy camper here!

I've been using a Schumacher charger for years as a maintainer, no issues over 10 years.
Also have an Optima that I purchased for AGM batts and its other features.
Only issue I have w/ the Optima is if there is a power interruption, it won't go directly back into a maintainer mode and need to be manualy selected which is not good if the car is not localy stored.

I had good results with the Schumacher when the battery was new .or. Disconnected from the car. As the battery aged, faster voltage drop and more maintainer cycling, which aged the battery faster. Repeat.
I have a different one now, smarter, but I still lift the ground strap if storage might be longer than a week or two. For the boat batteries with zero parasitic drain, the Schumacher works perfectly.
