Damn...If even half the people who have said they would purchase one follow through, Han's can finally break even on his costs.
I really hope Everyone does, Han's puts so much time, energy and Heart into these projects, and often ends up paying out of his own pocket.
Let's not let that happen this time around folks.

I'm interested !!
I need good audio quality in anything I drive, I just can't do without music when travelling
Changed out the front speakers for 100mm sony's, just as well too. the old ones had no rubber left on the cones haha

I'd be interested to hear any specs, once they're decided, e.g. mounting depth, volume. Will any modifications of the spare wheel area be required?
Thanks,
Roger

Roger,
There is no modification required to the spare tire area. Just like the previous version, this will drop directly into the spare tire area with plenty of clearance all the way around so the enclosure will not contact the sheetmetal, minimizing vibration. The enclosure is decoupled from the mounting plate by bonded rubber washers and a open-cell foam "gasket". This worked remarkably well in conjunction with the HDPE mounting plate on the first version, so planning on continuing with that on the second.
Power is supplied directly from the battery below.
The only thing that requires modification is the cargo carpet. On the 89 and older cars, the backing is much thinner, and can be removed in the area above the subwoofer driver, and the sliverknit carpet breathes enough that there is minimal impact on sound. On the 90+ cars, there is a bonded rubber backing. Rob Budd was offering a replacement carpet with mesh installed in the speaker area. I will get with him when I have the final design and see if he will continue to offer carpets for the second revision.
Regards,
Hans

After taking a look around at what is available, I plan on designing the enclosure around the venerable SB-Acoustics SW26DAC76-8 and the Alpine PDX sereies amplifiers (as they seem to retain the same footprint when they update the model line). The recommended model will be the PDX-V9, but any of the other PDX models will fit the enclosure.
Thanks,
Roger
