Default Anyone have a spare cam shaft (driver) for a US 84 928S?

I need to replace my driver side cam shaft and some places are showing $750 which is a bit too much for me right now.

The part number is 928-105-204 (left driver)

TIA!

Shannon

You can also use a pair of 78-79 camshafts .....

The problem is that those are the cams that break. The right side doesn't.

The idea of replacing them with a pair from 78-79 is a good one f you'd like a bit more power. And who doesn't want more power. Muahahahahaha!

That is interesting that the driver side tends to break more.

When the cam first broke, before the teardown, I threatened to throw it on clist as a non run er or sbc swap it, but a commenter stated that these cams are a "dime a dozen" and a "breeze to install". Screw that guy! Haha. Jk. I'm trying to avoid taking the cam tower off the right side.

Odd, I've replaced several passenger side cams but never a drivers side.

Indeed. I've got a broken left side in the garage now.

That didn't surprise me, nor the OPs issues, as someone from 928I mentioned the lefts break more often and that's why they sell the right for 1/2 as much.

The right side is the last driven bit is the circle and so there is less tension on the belt there.

Shannon,
No affiliation but 2 complete heads from a 79 for $650 or best offer. I do not know if it includes the cams. He started at $800 a few months back.

Default cams

I have heads, cams and cam towers from a US 84. Let me know if you are interested in some or all of it and we'll figure out a price.
