"Porsche 928 expedition" : around the world

Man what a trip, & the P-Museum looks awesome! And I thought getting to take off a couple of days & going to Epcot was a big deal! I'm pathetic!
At least I've gotten to see most of the 917s when they've brought them to Daytona & Amelia Island.

Michel,
Where exactly are our intrepid adventurers at this moment in time? I understand a little French but not too much [excuse moi s'il vous plait!].
From the photos and what I can understand they have either entered Iran or are on the border given the petrol station photo scripted in Farsi. I was going to ask you to warn them that Tehran is currently covered in snow but then the photos in the mountain pass covered in snow with icicles under the front spoiler make that warning somewhat superfluous!
After the leave Shiraz, appreciat e if you can advise me of their route through to the Pakistani border if you happen to know it.
Pity they are not travelling through Oman.
Regards
Fred

Bonjour Fred!
Here's a quick translation of the most recents comments from Philippe and Baudouin, sorry if it's not perfect...
"November 7th:
Some news about our journey that continues in Central Asia.
After waiting 6 days in Bukhara in the south of Uzbekistan, have had the invitation of the Embassy of France for the 3 days transit visa in Turkmenistan, where we are right now, stepping in Iran today.
The weather in this area is incredible, yesterday 20 degrees Celsius on the road to Ashgabat, then snow this morning in the capital ...
Despite the M + S tires , the road to the border of Iran is going to be fun!
As for the rest of the journey, communication will probably be very difficult : we are not certain to hit the internet throughout Iran.
We plan to go down to Shiraz / Persepolis, but we have very few news from the Iranian forwarders down there, therefore we wil probably drive back by the road, which will make a much longer trip, but we can't wait 2 or 3 weeks at the hotel for the car to reach India.
Thus, our journey will turn into a 25,000 km trip trough 25 countries, i. e. Paris-Persepolis following the “Silk Road”.
November 9th:
Our journey continues, we are in Iran since the day before yesterday.
The border crossing Turkmenistan / Iran was unbelievable, mountain pass in the snow, definitely not a piece of cake with our shark, and in addition a truck stuck across the road, it was kind of scary!
We had to do it as soon as possible, as our visa was expiring; the car is just magic, look how she stands in snow, on the icy road!
We are now heading Isfahan, then Persepolis, as fast as possible according to the latest news about Iran ... "
To be continued...
Cheers,
Michel

Such a shame I missed the moment they were in Moscow.
Could have said "hello", with my shark.
Oh well, should visit the 'list more often!
The journey is indeed totally epic!
Nice to see one's dreams come true.

There are some new photos on the website. Some additional photos on the Iran page-- including a visit to the local Porsche dealer, and the "Car Museum of the Shah of Iran" (!) and a '79 928 with 29km on the clock (!!). Black & Black+Pascha, very cool.
Click here for the Iran page via Google translator, and scroll to the bottom.
From there, scroll back to the top and click on "News", and the next segment (#20) is ... Turkey! They were planning to continue into Pakistan and then India, hard to imagine anything going wrong with that plan! ... But it looks like they might be back-tracking a bit. No explanation, just more amazing pictures!
Philippe, Baldwin, we sure hope you are OK! And best wishes for the new year!
