Default Spark Plug Wire Rebuild - New Beru Wires

I am rebuilding plug wires, using original ends with new Beru wires ( Thanks Roger! )

I want another 20 years of trouble free operation.

It seems straightforward, but any hints, tips or gotchas on this?

Should I use Dielectric grease inside? Or DeoXit? Other? None?

I sprayed some Deoxit on the reused connectors. I also measured resistance on everything and ended up needing one new end...the on that connects to the coil. Apparently they don't go bad often, so lucky me. Also, some Armor All on the wire insulation near the end helped insert it into the boot.

Use a small plastic screwdriver or something similar with a blunt end to go between the wire and the boot before trying to twist the end off.
Often I've run into the boot sleeve is "stuck" to the wire and trying to twist it can cause issues.

Carefully sliding the implement between the boot sleeve and the wire, work it around to "break" them apart should help the disassembly.

Ken, based on my and others experience, you may find that you have "economy" ends at the distributor, which means they are a crimped connection vs. screw type. Don't worry about it too much until you get into it but if you unscrew the wire from the connector at the distributor end and wind up getting a bare wire with no screw end, then get back to us and we'll find the thread that discussed options.

Ah, that would have been useful - those wires are a bugger to get into the original ends. So to speak.

They are really easy to do, in fact, far easier than I ever thought possible: I returned the kit to Roger and dove into my pocket to buy the assembled wires. Putting those wires into older ends is a total non-starter! It's worth every penny of your time to get the pre-built set. Trust me....
