Default Lumbar Motors

The lumbar motors have two wires and move in two directions (clockwise and counterclockwise).

Is it reasonable to assume one wire provides current for each direction of movement and the motor body grounds to the seat frame? If there were three wires then it would be obvious one was a ground ...

LOL - reading the thread title I thought it was an odd name for a used car dealership.

My 87 has those, and they are loud. I've been tempted to take the seat apart to see if they need lube or something. I'm a bit afraid to mess with it.

so to test the motor I can apply power and ground either way and it will just change the direction the motor turns ... thanks!

Hacker, you do have to take off the seat back cover for the mechanicals and if you need to get to the motors the headrest foam as well. I'm testing mine only because I have time to get in there before sending to Robb Budd ...

I'll post after cleaning and lubricating whether it seemed to make any difference in the sound. Others have said these things are just noisy by nature ...

the 4 way seat switches are that way they have two in wires, power and ground and 4 out wires two to each motor.....would expect lumbar to be similar but only controlling one motor.

Yes the motors just have 2 active connections - apply power in one polarity for one direction the reverse polarity for the other direction.

All the seat motors are like this (and windows/sunroof too)
