To all of those that are going to get a serious taste of cold this weekend, condolences.

The arctic blast is moving through here now, tomorrow we wake up to 30 below F, wind chills in the 40-50 below range. It is suppose to start warming on Monday.

There's always the option to dash down to western Montana in the winter... to warm up!

I worked on a project at Grand Prarie at the north corner of Alberta. The folks there half-joked about warming up in Montana. The week or so I was there in the mid 1980's they were enjoying chinook winds in February and relatively balmy temps. Vs. the -30's typical to the season.

----

I drained the last drops of fuel from the snowblower tank yesterday in anticipation of spring hibernation. That should cause a cold snap and some more white stuff soon.

In the states we pay homage to Edsel Murphy, patron saint of "Anthing that can possibly go wrong, will." fame. There are a number of all-a-gories that weigh the probabilities of such things going wrong, and more importantly the timing of same.

By the way, this is the law that keeps engineers in such high demand.

We have a freezing rain warning for today so the GTS was parked and we'll drive the Cayenne for the weekend.

Its very interesting to drive the two vehicles back to back; one hugs the road, powers through curves albeit with older technology and heavier controls while the bigger vehicle smoothly floats down the hwy with barely a murmur, somewhat wallows through the corners with feather light throttle and steering but requires firm pressure on the brake pedal to ensure those massive calipers slow the beast sufficiently.
Both are really good fun for what they were designed for

ps........Dr Bob, I added fresh premium fuel to the GTS in anticipation of the same early spring...........Sods Law indeed Fred.

To induce early springtime, add a dose of fuel stabilizer to the fresh premiun in the GTS. The inverse of that is true, evidenced by my foolish addition of stabilizer to the snowblower fuel can and filling the tank. Filling the tank should have been enough deterrent, but the addition of stabilizer apparently sealed the deal, causing another foot of snow within a few days. I don't admit stupid mistakes like this to my neighbors, for obvious reasons; I already clear their driveways out of guilt.

Ah the joys of winter in Southern Ontario. Last weekend it was 15 C. This weekend it's -17 C. Not much snow this year so luckily the snow blower has remained idle.

I was in Winterpeg a couple of weeks ago when it was a downright balmy +2°C. Couldn't believe how warm it was. Looks like you are back to normal temps. Thankfully I must have hit one of the Chinooks.

Finished a huge repair job on my car and started it yesterday. After checking everything out I drove it around my neighborhood for about 20 min today in the -10 and blowing snow, lol.

The lack of snow is my fault.

I haven't put snow tires on a car since 1975, when it became common to have radial tires and FWD. Until last fall, when I got a set of winter wheels for the sacrificial Prius.

-28°C this morning.
Feels like -40° with the wind.
It won't last. It should be better by Monday.

Fortunately it's the first time this year we get this kind of temperature.
Last year and the year before, we had that kind of temperature the whole winter...

Spring should be early this year.
