Default Coolant hose - where to find silicone replacement in uk

Hi

I would like to find a silicone hose coolant hose set for my MY 85 S2 4.7.

I can't even find a UK supplier who does any hoses at all for 928s except for the rad hoses, and then only in rubber.

Does anyone know any suppliers, or failing that one in the States?

Any pointers much appreciated

David

I bought these a while back, I'll see if I can find the seller.

The issue is that silicone is not a good material for coolant hoses as the coolant permeates through the wall of the hose. As all the hoses are readily available in the correct material there is little need for someone to make them in silicone.

However if it is the "bling" effect you want all bets are off.

Thank you for that Roger - the people marketing the silicone go on about 'this is the last hose you will ever fit, last for ever, etc etc' so perhaps I should take that with a pinch of salt!

Do you do hose kits for an '85 S2 4.7?

Thank you as well MJRocket! If you had time it would be great to know where you got yours from as perhaps colour in my rather drab engine bay might convince me!

David,

Just stick with the original hoses- trouble free for 10 years and even then will probably last longer.

+++ on silicone not being a good cooling hose, great turbo hoses, good vacuum hoses, poor cooling hoses.

Not really.....in the event of a FPR leaking silicone and gas do not mix.

The best vacuum lines are the cloth lined rubber hoses which are rated for all kinds of fuel. Our suppliers all sell it in bulk.

David I am assuming that your car being a UK S2 is also RHD. Remember that most of the cooling hoses apart from the upper and lower radiator hoses are completely different to LHD cars that most on this board are familiar with.
Because they are specifically RHD parts they start with the prefix 927 and not 928 and are only supplied via Porsche. I stock most of the RHD parts here in the States but my prices are on par with those from your local OPC in the UK. Because of added shipping costs and HMS customs it will be way cheaper to buy these hoses locally.
If you need all the part numbers shoot me an email and I will send you a list and a price so you can show it to your local OPC. Roger@928srus.com
