throttle body whistle?
Hello,
I recently sent the car for a intake manifold change last week.
https://rennlist.com/forums/928-foru...hlight=z928328
After the manifold gasket change- I got that jerk which now is solve after fluid change etc.
But now I got a whistling sound whenever I start the car. The whistle sounds will quiet down a bit once the car is on running temp. I did sent the car back & the mechanic trace the sound around the throttle body area.
The car idles ok & the car feels more power after the manifold gasket change but the car do stall sometimes if the RPM gets too low.(Throttle body related?)
Advice?

To be more specific- the sound is like more like people whistling continuously and sometimes it's like people vacuum their carpet. The sound is trace around the throttle body area..

Not too unusual for one of the vacuum hoses or elbows that hook to the throttle bodies to split or slip off.

I had the same exact thing occur on mine, and posted the question a long time ago.
I found it to be a fault at the gasket between the manifold and the throttle body plenum due to a stripped bolt insertion site on the drivers side.
Had to carefully re-tap and install a new bolt for the seal.
Gasket #6. There are two bolts on each side, and one of these was not forming a seal.

Bolts - not necessarily. I found I had a specific issue which caused the gasket (6) not to seal. This was a bolt not torquing down for it was previously overtightened in the soft metal of the manifold and stripped out.
It is a good idea to change these gaskets when you remove the manifold to do the service there, and it could be the source of the whistle. As mentioned by others, check all vacuum lines as they can be the source of the whistle too.

ahh.. That means need to open all those things again. How the throttle body? Any seals in particular need to change? Plan to have it clean.
I think I may need to live with the sound for a while..

Chitown knows this one, he was ready to sell he was so aggravated.
davek9 and others soon found the issue in hell last year. It was a improperly installed intake gasket.

As the cars gets warmer-- The whistle is not noticeable unless you place your ears near the throttle body area. But if you stop the engine & restart- the whistle can be heard again for few minutes.. I will post a vid..
