Adam,
I'm sure they discourage that kind of behavior down there. I don't think I want to discuss this situation with a local law enforcement officer, especially with California plates on the car...

They do discourage it, but it's amazingly empty out there. There are schoolkids that ride the bus >2hrs each way.
Way east of there once, southbound from Midland to I-10, I slowed to under 70 from 90 or so because I'd noticed a white car gaining on me from way back. When it caught up and passed it contained four nicely dressed blue-haired ladies cruising at better than a buck in a Chevy Caprice. Gotta love West Texas.

Dan,
That sounds like a great offer. I was going to ask my wife to find a place between Phoenix and Tucson since she loves to find a bargain, but I'll bet she can't find a better price then free. Besides kids and dogs are great, so that's a plus. I have to make sure it has two bed. Just because we're from the Bay Area, doesn't mean we like each other in that way, not there's anything wrong with that...
Plus it'd be a real treat to check out you 928s, that add something special to the trip. I'll check with Bill to make sure he hasn't made other plans.

Two beds. The bedroom is nice and large room with queen bed. The living room has a very nice, truly bed like, couch that folds out. It too is a queen size though maybe two inches shorter. I fit on it fine at 6' nothing. And if that does not work out, we have another guest bedroom in the house with us with queen bed.
I've got a long driveway that will easily hold your rig and trailer. So no problems there.
I no longer am the caretaker of the Turquoise and Zyclamrot cars. They are on to new stewards. Regardless, the heart of a 928 owner still beats within my chest.
I'm sure Bill will be good with the company. We caravaned to Third Coast 5 or so years ago.

West Texas is a wonderful place. I've been known to wander about between Midland and Lubbock.
From a motorsports perspective, this is the home of Chaparral Racing and a wonderful place to own a sports car. There are a number of stories of the local Midland Grace surgeons purchasing Aston Martins, Porsches and Ferraris because these were the only vehicles fast enough to make it from their ranches to the operating table in the necessary amount of time.

The events in Nevada are all over 4000 feet, so that shouldn't be a problem. In fact the car seems to run a lot better at altitude. Lot less knocks above 4000 feet, don't know if it's the less dense air, cooler temps, or better gas outside of California...

Having driven the Cayenne with your car in tow, albeit a better trailer, my guess is that you and Bill could do the 150 class towing. My question is does this equal 300?

It would create a tie between the Cayenne and the 928 on the trailer.
You could put any "driver" you want in the 928 on the trailer. They'd have the exact same time as the Cayenne.

Sorry to say I'm not going to make it to the BBORR.
First Bill got sick and couldn't make it. I figured I'd go anyway, but would have to limit the fussing with the car and keep the tune to what we
got at the dyno last week.
Then while loading the car onto the trailer, I hear a horrible sound coming from under the hood...
So I unloaded the car and brought the trailer back to U Haul. If Bill were going, I might have tried the run without the supercharger,
but it would take a lot of extra work and tuning.

Thanks Jim,
60 turns in 59 miles, then turn around and run it again backwards. Sounds very challenging. I'm sorry too..

just saw this....you should come out, plenty of guys will be replacing things the night before. I think 2 years ago, we had 2 motors rebuilt the night before that let go in the practice sessions.
If nothing else, run the tow vehicle. There is usually a few tow vehicles that run for this reason alone! In fact the 115 or 110 class was won by a tacoma!
